Racism comes in all colors, and then there is biasness. When you lump the nation as racist for a minority of clowns actually hating blacks it egregious to those who have walked the walk with MLK. Truthfully, what percent of white america do you think is racist? Then ask if BLM matter for anyone but the organizers, and is it harming the black cause more than assisting.

I deal with an astounding array of people (I live in London, which is a melting pot of cultures) and there will always be those I can't get along with and those I can. What I don't understand is thinking the the colour of someone's skin has any relevance whatsoever to how I deal with them. Racism simply makes no sense to me, so I can only hope I'm in the majority on that! You write eloquently and clearly on the subject.

I deal with an astounding array of people (I live in London, which is a melting pot of cultures) and there will always be those I can't get along with and those I can. What I don't understand is thinking the the colour of someone's skin has any relevance whatsoever to how I deal with them. Racism simply makes no sense to me, so I can only hope I'm in the majority on that! You write eloquently and clearly on the subject.

Ploughing through the 'up next' section of FanStory I have been presented with two sets of writing on the subject of racism. The first was a well-written poem and the second is this, equally well-stated prose article. i think my review for the first will suffice as a review for this - a kind of apology for the way some of us are.
This what I wrote, and I am speaking from the UK and not the US which had a very different history.
As a Caucasian octogenarian I grew up with institutional racism flowing in my veins, much of our humour was racist and we thought nothing of it. I would like to add that we meant nothing by it and certainly I did not feel superior because of my skin colour.
When one of the first black recruits into the Royal Marines turned up in a squad under my command in the mid nineteen sixties he was immediately given the nickname 'Snowball'. That would not - could not be allowed to happen today. But is the world a better place as a result? I would love to meet 'Snowball' today and ask him.
