Well, I didn't think get home and her real body back wouldn't be so simple either. It doesn't really seem she/he is all that desperate to escape. Given the extreme treatment this is both odd but not. People do remain in abusive situations for many reasons.

Thank you for your involved review. You are so right I, and about 5 others nun-mates/friends stayed throughtheworst of it. We lived under the monastic rules from 1965-1968. Thenthing slowly became more relaxed. I think of my friend who dies at 102+ who probably lived like that since she was about 17. Do the math to figure how many years she lived in that rigidity, which answers why 'nuns' were so mean.

You have a lean writing style with short, punchy sentences, and your sparse use of imagery adds to its impact. I get a good idea of the devastating hardships of living in the Middle Ages. Although I haven't read previous chapters, I found it easy to empathise with your hero/heroine. An enjoyable reading experience.

Thank you for your interested review. It is difficult coming in cold. If you are interested, it is about a real trip to England but tweaked to go 'Twilight Zone ish' The first 18 chapters are about the power spots we visited, along with a crop circle. All with discussion about the Michael & Mary ley lines. This was building up to an idea of a sense we'd gotten, that we'd been there before. There were some pretty horrible things that happened. So I decided to write about them. You are welcome to scan through my portfolio to read any chapters leading up to this chapter. You could begin on chapter 16 to get into it. No need for a review, just enjoy.

What an absolutely great continuation chapter for the book of The Tor, Liz. Poor Madeline/ Brother Samuel is even more confused that she/he was before. Things are definitely not working out as she/he planned. Abraham is a councilor of sorts while Brother Harold is charged with copying books. Very well done, greatly enjoyed.

I found I had to re-read some parts of this, Liz, to find the hidden meanings in some of what is told. I think that might be a good thing. It causes more engagement. I'm sorry Madeleine hasn't made it back to the 21st Century. She must be getting tired of living as Samuel in the 15th. Well done.

Oh, poor Madeline! I was hoping she could have escaped and even with time alone with Abraham, she can share all that she wants to share. I liked your reference to the Name of the Rose. My favorite part is the description of the scenery like "blood-tinged sunset" and the stark contrast between the 21st century road which is sparkling water to show us the different geological changes.
As for fiddlehead ferns - they contain carcinogens so I hope they don't eat much of that.
Question:
rhubarb swiss chard. (Is this a kind of swiss chard? I was tempted to read it as rhubarb and swiss chard, but I don't like rhubarb! Lol.)

Thank you for your involved review. Its stalks are the color of the stalks of rhubarb. Too many fiddleheads could be another way to kill everyone off. bwaaa

It's a favorite in Korean cuisine but I won't eat them now after learning the people who process the fiddleheads commercially got cancer. I guess in small amounts it's okay. It's not a staple for sure!

I have harvested fiddleheads from my back yard. They take an eternity to clean this thin tan paper off them. I studied how to identify them on you tube. They warned dome dusty looking ones are deadlyu. So people have to know which are safe. I just decided after 3 years of frustration...I really don't like the taste of them. So now I don';t have to spend my time trying to clean them.

There are other more tasty and more nutritious free food out there! I don't like the taste either. Lol.
