This poem did make me chuckle and reminded me of the crush I had on my science teacher lol. I cringe now at the thought. Great well written poem and thank you for sharing.

Such a very sad time, and for us in Australia so unbelievable. Nevertheless this sweet poem of your father's did bring a smile at the innocence of children and their love, and thank you for sharing it with the purpose of bringing a little cheer. I just heard today that the husband of one of the teachers who was killed has had a heart attack and died as well. They leave four children. Incredibly sad.

I was in love with the boy next door when I was 8, but he was 22 and left home to be married. I was distraught that he didn't wait for me to grow up. He never knew of course.

Our dads were similar in age and year of passing.
It is comforting to remember them...to settle back into our own innocent childhood memories and theirs...
Particularly now.
Twenty one crosses.
All day I've thought about this loss...
The mounting death count!
My eight year old grandson has had "shelter in place" drills this week....and a counselor visiting his classroom to explain the term "active shooter."
I wish he had a crush on his teacher...
As it stands, he's asking me why he can't just stay home and not be "shot dead."
Eight years old!
So thanks... You make me smile, our dads look down on us, smiling... And we'll all to our best to get through this.

What an adorable poem! Perhaps your father passed onto you his skill at writing. He told a whole story in one short poem and makes anyone who reads this smile. I hope you had no relatives caught up in this disaster. It is heartbreaking.

However, it was hard for me to rate because I needed to rate something from you and the bulk of this entry is not about you or your relationship with your father. The visual looks like Haley Berry and she does have a smile. But it would be better if it was a smiling redheaded woman to fit your father's poem. Perhaps, I will get a chance to read some of your work at another time.
