Ah yes, I expect many of us guys have been there, or at least in a situation very similar in our lives, wrestling with our courage in the face of someone seemingly ideal. I like that you left us to fill in the rest. Congrats on the contest placement :-)

Well done on placing. You left the story hanging ... now we'll never know. An interesting and enjoyable read, as actions and character were both well developed. Best wishes.

There is no telling how many men have passed up a great woman with a great heart and soul. Instead, they get tangled up with a self-centred, self-obsessed attractive woman. Who only thinks about herself. This was a great story. Thank you for sharing.

Marvelous flash fiction in an attitude we all have had at one time or another when late to our destiny. A winner here, I think.

Sending you my best today as always, and best wishes for the upcoming contest,
Sal :))

Thanks, but I am nowhere near popular enough on this site to even be close to being considered to be the winner.

I liked your flash fiction. It held my interest, because I wanted to know if Paul would speak to the woman, and then I was left hanging at the Ding. Great job. Shirley

Your contest entry was interesting. I enjoyed reading it.
I could visualize everything form the use of descriptive
words. You did a great job with the dialogue. What a time
to be tongue-tied. You led you to the ending well. I was
hoping Paul and the woman would speak to each other
and maybe have a date later. You left the ending open
for readers.
Best wishes in the contest, Jan

Oh no! He waited too long. That's a shame. I was rooting for him as he tried to gather the courage to get this lady's attention. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes!

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I am curious how many of us have been in that exact same situation and unable to find the words to say. I bet a lot. I enjoyed reading and wish you luck.

There he was, next to his ideal woman. (beside his)

It looks like he might have to get off the Tram with her or he will have lost the woman of his dreams, He who Hesitates...
This is a good entry for the contest, Brett. Good luck. Nancy:)

Brett,

This is an excellent 250-word story. You have perfectly captured that hesitation that everyone has felt at one time or another, even when there is nothing to lose except the opportunity or the fantasy. This is a great way to say "he who hesitates loses."
