What a wonderful story. I am fascinated by stories like this and great heroes like your dad. I have found tat many veterans who have had to kill an enemy soldier from close range are reluctant to talk about their experiences because watching someone die at your hands does something to you internally. I know te situation with your dad was somewhat different, but it is also a reluctance to seem to be bragging that prevents some men from discussing their military experiences.

This was an amazing time for us to watch him so proudly show what everything was for on the ship, like it had been the day before!
He was proud that their ship was a National Monument, but he felt the representation of it was for all who served and not just those from the ship..

I can't thank you enough for your generous six stars, which I they feel even more special than normal because they honor my dad in honor of Father's Day. Your appreciation for the service and the men makes me even prouder to be your friend! I still get the chills and tears when I stand for the National Anthem, and I agree about the wars, as being a girlfriend of a Vietnam guy who never came home, I have always felt it was a senseless war. However I have so much respect for every person, no matter where they served. As I can tell you feel the same way. I thank you my very dear friend for the loveliest review yet and kind words!

A few suggestions:
Para 1, 4th sentence: Remove extra spaces between "support" and "and"
Para 9, 2nd sentence: Add comma after "So"
Para 10, 1st sentence: Change "it's" to "its"
Para 10, 1st sentence: Add comma after "young"
Para 10, 2nd sentence: Add paragraph space after "attack."
Para 12, 2nd sentence: Add paragraph space after "dying."
Para 15, 1st sentence: Either add a paragraph space after "shipmates." or remove spaces until the second half of that paragraph is inclusive.
Para 15, 5th sentence: Remove comma after "businessman"
Para 16, 3rd sentence: Remove comma after "members"
Very last sentence: add comma after "also"
A great story well told. It makes me proud to think of your dad's sacrifice. Good job.

Thank you Iza, as I do truly appreciate it, but it was for his mother and siblings. But your right, he was a hero and I am so thankful that I got to see him have his moment before he died. Thank you my lovely friend!

Wow, thank you Terry! I appreciate your wonderful review and kind words, but surely never expected the generous six stars from a pro story writer like yourself. Thank you so very much! It was time for me to come out of my comfort zone of poetry, as I felt my dad deserved it. I have taken all the kind feedback serious and corrected the silly little errors, so am glad that it reads better today. I was so nervous about it. I already went back and edited your great suggestion, as it never felt right, but I just wrote, Congressman Minge, from our district. I hope that sounds ok. Thank you so very much for always being so helpful to everyone. I do wonder about the title of the Naval title that I used that couldn't contact my dad, since I was going on memory of 25 years ago. So being so fluent in the Navy, being a limey yourself, maybe you know if that was the right name? (not sure if limey is still a word used and l apologize if it's insulting)
