Hello to the author of A Special Time for My Dad and Me contest
I found your story well written and also found your dad a special Dad
I got teary eyed when I read---

As he was reunited with many crew members, and was given one of the biggest honor of his lifetime, we were grateful that he no longer felt the need to keep that part of felt the need to keep that part of his life buried deep down inside..

Gert, I thank you so very much for your lovely review and comments regarding my dad finding that his ship was a national memorial for all to visit and pay tribute to. And not only the crew from that ship, but as he saw it, for all who fought in the war. It was truly an amazing thing to see him honored too, yet he was humbled by it all. Thank you again for all of your kind words my friend!

What an amazing story. Your tribute, Mystery Author,
is awesome. You dad would be, and is, proud of you.
The picture is perfect to pair with your well organized
story. The smooth flow and great details allow readers
to feel as if they are listening to your dad tell this
story. The part about rescuing the downed pilot and
what happened because of that is so positive. This
is a great story regardless of contest or not.
Best wishes in the contest, Jan

Your story is a fabulous one. It is told in chronological order making it easy for the reader to follow. The photo of your dad is the perfect visual. The font is large and easy to read. The last two lines need to be adjusted so there isn't one word alone on a line.
The National D-Day Memorial is in my hometown of Bedford, VA. If your dad is still with us, you should try to bring him here. He would be proud of how well it is done. Our town was selected for the memorial location because we lost the most men per capita for a small town.
My brother is a Vietnam vet, and I too am a vet. I served behind the Berlin Wall before it came down.
I am thankful to your dad for his service. He sounds like a great man. I am rooting for your essay in the contest, and I will vote for it.
Blessings!

OMGosh Sandra, I just wrote you the longest thank you, got up and went to the bathroom and it disappeared out of nowhere. So let me see if I can rewrite it as yours was so very important to me. First I want to thank you so much as I do appreciate your lovely review and words, and your very generous six stars. Wow, what a special treat that was for me and I can't thank you enough my friend! I dedicate those six stars to my dad!!
Also, your feedback was so valuable, since I am not a story teller, as I usually write poems only. But this one was so very special to do this for my dad, and he is no longer with us, but only died about 5 years ago. Especially on Father's Day it was important! He would have loved your town. My husband and I were there about 7 years ago, as we went to the east coast and traveled it all the way down. Since my husband wasn't with on our trip to Boston, it was fun to take him to see the ship and the head of the Naval yard said that we are supposed to always let them know when we come there as they love to cater to the families. Such a lovely place. I just asked my husband if he remembered being in your town, and he said oh yeah, and then announced the date of June 6, 1944. Lol, is he close? Anyway, I remember spending a little more time in Virginia as we stayed with a niece in Yorktown. We did see your memorial and everything that your town had to offer. It was so lovely, yet always chilling. We stopped at every place that had memorials too, including the battles of the civil war which was a big one for us, as we had ancestors who fought, since we are from MN, of course they fought for the North, and went to the Wall in Washington DC. I was able to scratch the name of a boyfriend who never made it home to me and a few other people. It is not a war that I supported but was certainly not one that I protested. I have so much respect for everyone who went there and remember being so angry with the way people treated those guys when they came home. Thank you to your brother for that. Also my friend, I am so impressed with your service and can only imagine what that must have been like to been at the Berlin Wall, but do you mind me asking what part of the service and what you did. You have me so interested? In fact my friend, what an awesome story that would make. I thank you from the bottom of my heart because I am one of those who still gets the chills and tears when singing the National Anthem.
Last night I took notes on everyone's helpful feedback and laid in bed with my iPad on my stomach and worked on edits. Lol, I did wake up a few times and had to start some over again, as my hand accidentally deleted some stuff. However, I was so thankful for the help that I didn't want to wait until today to do. Thanks again for Everything!!! Sorry for the long thank you, but yours was such an awesome review!

You are most welcome. I enjoyed your story. I am sorry your father has passed, but where he is he can still read it and smile. I was a 91S- Army Health Inspector. I inspected all Mess Halls, NCO Clubs, motor pools, swimming facilities. Test the drinking water for E. coli....etc. I loved your long thank you! Write me anytime. Blessings to you and your loved ones.

As requested in the prompt you have indeed described a special time for your Dad and you, and you go on to cover how it impacted on your life. You wrote it well, except I found your writing style slightly hard to handle, because of the disturbing habit of dropping articles.

Thank you Katherine, as I am a poet, not a storyteller. So this was hard to try to shorten it and yet to keep the most valuable parts in. I truly respect and value your feedback and not sure what I can do to change, since so many parts were needed to go with the past and present. I thank you so much for your lovely comments as well as your awesome feedback. If you have any suggestions, I would truly appreciate hearing them. I will take another look to fix and once again my friend, thank you!

One fine young man. There are not that many people who had a heart like him. He was a hero in many ways. I enjoyed reading your story. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day.

You have every right to be proud of your father. He was loving, compassionate, brave and unselfish, even from the age of fifteen. You told his story well, and honoured him with your words. It is wonderful that in his later years he was also able to be honoured by so many. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes for your entry.

This is a fascinating story about your father. He certainly had an interesting life. Is the photo a picture of your father? I enjoyed reading your story. I wish you tons of luck in the contest.

Thank you so very much! Yes that's him and I have wanted to write this story for so long and since he's only been gone five years, I miss him like it was yesterday. I'm sure as everyone who looks towards Father's Day without their dad. Thank you for your very kind review and comments my friend!
