Hello JLR,
I think you picked the perfect form for your nostalgic poem
in the double refrain kyrielle.
Excellent choice of rhymes and smooth meter has the poem flowing
with the joy of the children enjoying recess and anticipating summer.
Wonderful picture that enhances the feeling.
Well done.
Best wishes.
Robert

What a wonderful poem - it reminds me of a more innocent time when children were concerned about things like waiting for the school bell to sound. I also like that image you chose - somehow it reminded me of a Norman Rockwell painting. Regards, Lilly

I could not wait for recess. It gave us a break. In high school, after recess, it was time to go home. I like the picture. The boys looked as if they were enjoying their recess. Thank you for sharing.

JLR,
You did a good job in mixing the two club posts.
Something I like to do. You code good refrains for the kyrielle.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

I am giving you five stars because I am out of the six-star awards. However, I feel this is a very touching poem and illustration combination. I wish children today could look and feel so carefree

Hi!
love yur poem and the poetry form that you chose for the club entry. It pains a beautiful picture of the gentle beginning of summer break. I like the kids playing, cavorting, and then wildflowers included in the mix, cavorting, as well. Beautifully done!
I have no suggestions or corrections to offer.
Blessings and thanks for an exceptional read!

I enjoyed this. It was cleverly written and paints a vivid picture of the last day of school - at least the way it used to be! The picture was well chosen to enhance the words of the poem.

There were longer recesses as the last days wound down. The reader will be drawn in to reminisce about their last days each year, some teachers more generous than others. I like the use of personification with the clouds. This enhances the setting. Well done.

This picture remind us of how simple and trouble free the children were back in the day. I very seriously doubt that any of those children felt threatened by the thought of some madman invading and shooting up their school in an effort to erase or appease his own personal demons. I apologize for hijacking your pleasant poem, but the memory is too fresh for me to not think about it.

Nomi, How can we not continue to feel the ache in the pit of gut! Such tragic loss for the parents and horrific lifelong memories for the surviving children who suffered witnessing these events.

I am so ready for weapons melted down and serious efforts toward mental healthcare and social reformation within the broken families to be our over-riding focus.

Some heartless men who value money above human suffering see only how they can feed the emptiness within themselves by gorging themselves of pleasures that are never going to be enough. These monsters are in control for now, until they are brought down, we will continue to suffer.
