Of course, I really love this poem and can imagine that you might be reading my memoir, Wherever the Road Leads. That is until I got to the part where the handsome hero saves the damsel in distress (though maybe this could be when I was so sick between Bombay and Delhi).

The poem is lovely and flows easily over my mind's tongue. I especially enjoyed the first stanza (it hooked me) and the line: 'With author at the helm. She piloted her words with skill"
A couple of things bothered me:
. second stanza, final line: would "and" work better than "with?"
. second to last stanza (and I know this is my personal take as a non-believer), but I'd prefer to know more about the character's flaws or motives, rather than that they prayed when in trouble. This reference to consulting a higher power takes the reader away from the joy of reading and armchair adventure and into the realm of religious poetry.

Thank you for your review. I think "and" would work well in the second stanza, too, though I was associating cookies and a drink to wash them down. ; ) I write a great deal of inspirational or religious poetry, and since my faith is such an integral part of who I am, it may appear in others of my poems. I loved your book as I proofed it, and it has lingered in my mind as beautiful writing. Clever you are--I don't care for fish, and you managed to make it sound tasty.

Loved how you showed we can go on adventures through a book ! Loved your metaphor of sailing with the "author at the helm." And with fresh baked cookies, comfort is provided!

I enjoyed this imaginative and whimsical piece, and I loved your thoughtful preparations so that you would not be interrupted as you journey to faraway places of the imagination. Well written!

I gave six stars for one simple reason. I was asked once what it was that I loved most about writing. Your poem illustrated my answer perfectly. My answer was "Reading takes you anyplace the imagination can create. But what I love most about writing is that I get to go there first! The reader only gets to go if I liked the adventure enough to share it." Your poem shared that and I loved it.

This poem is an excellent way to describe how if fees to read a good book. An author can transport you into another land of beautiful site and adventure and when the story ends there is sudden jolt of being home again. This reminds me of my adventures though the world of book I read as a kid. I amazed that some many young people that came along later never learned the joy of reading.

"I traveled in a leisure way with the author at the helm." What a great line that sums up how books and stories take us away to another place, as your poem has here today.

A very enjoyable read, and so nicely written. It's obvious that you know your way around a poem.

This poem should appeal to all ages. A young reader will especially like the way you place him a sailing vessel off to exotic lands and wild adventures. And it's nice to know that when this voyage ends there's always another book. Rod

The poem was very good. I myself find it easy to put myself where the sailor is of the ship. I like to capture the essence of the story, and put myself there. Great choice for a picture, it was lovely. I've been trying to figure out, how to put a picture with my stories and poems, and I don't know how. Could you maybe help me figure it out?

Thank you, Anna, for a wonderful review. I really appreciate the stars. Six is my new favorite number. I've been a member for a long time here, but I didn't start writing and reviewing till this January. I can help you get a picture from FanStory to put on your work, but I haven't yet figured out how to size my own pictures to fit here. For FanStory, after you select Write, share it, The first thing at the top of the page will be to select picture from FanStory Art. Click on that and a page will come up for you to put a topic on. You may have to scroll a number of pictures and pages before you find one that suits. When you do, click select it, then continue with your title and your item to write or upload. If you upload, be sure to check it because if you have something like a dash or another symbol, it jumbles it, and you just change it on your copy. I hope this works!
