We didn't have indoor plumbing and running water till I was almost grown; this poem resonates with me. Both parents worked in factories. Daddy also farmed. They worked SO hard. You have moved me with your descriptions
of how your father took loving care of you.

Great rhyming and a wonderful tribute to your dad. This is a great entry for the contest. So glad you have such good memories of your father. Made me think of my daughter who was always her daddy's girl.

There's a fast flow to this, carried on the wings of your tight rhymes and meter. It's a lovely tribute and I enjoyed the while thing. Very nicely written.

This is a beautiful tribute to your dad, Debi. It sounds as though you were the apple of his eye. I've always said that memories are fonder than having lived them. They are forever there.

Thank you so much John for your lovely review of my poem about my dad. You are always so sweet and I appreciate your very kind words. And you are so right John about memories because love always makes us remember the good ones instead of those that aren't quite as pleasant. After all life isn't always perfect, but I believe that our parents all did their best.

Our Father's Day is in September, our mothers day's are the same as yours, my dad worked very hard, he worked 7 days a week, I'd go with him sometimes to work his watchman's job at a local port, he was a good and gentle man. Beautifully written Debi, superbly done, blessings Roy

Roy, I am not sure I can tell you how appreciative I am of your awesome review, lovely story and words and your generous six stars. I just thank you so much my dear friend! I will still be smiling on Father's Day and thanking God for the time He gave me with him. Mine was a good man too.
(Except I learned a few new words the day he dropped the pee pail down the steps). Your dad sounded like a good dad as well, and I thank you for sharing with me)

A great poem my friend, the photo just looks wonderful. It took me a while to understand what "Three Stooges" was until I looked it up. It's a comedy tv show which means that he could of cried from laughter. The most time your having fun while laughing is that you get the hiccups from laughing for too long. Good luck in the contest!

Debi,

These are wonderfully sweet memories to have and hold and share. I'm so glad you had a father like this to treasure. That's wonderful - and not as common as we might wish. This was a really special poem. Thanks and good luck!

Thank you so very much Robyn! I so appreciate your kind review and lovely comments. This has been fun to hear all the people who have been able to relate as so many have told of their own stories, many of who were also daddy's girls. Thank you again my friend!
