Very good poem. I missed that war. I could have gone. I probably should have gone. My conscience still bothers me. The Statler Brother's song brings me to tears.

Oh Paul, never feel bad for missing that war. I just remember that Lyndon Johnson owned helicopter factories at the time and got richer everyday. from that war. The WWs were different, because there was deep purpose for those. I love that song too. "More than a name on a Wall!" Jimmy Fortune who wrote it we still follow him although they're no longer to together. Have you ever gone to see the Wall? And thanks for your kind review and comments.
I've been there a couple times and really don't think much one way or another.

I think this is the perfect statement for the contest. It is a war that millions want answers for. The way the government let those poor boys down, the way they were treated when they came home, there should be answers and should have had consequences for the goverment at that time. Well done, and good luck in the contest, the words and that haunting picture are beautifully presented. Good luck. :) Sandra x

Thanks Sandra. Did you know that President Lyndon Jonson owned fleets of helicopters and factories? He got richer ever day that the war went on. I hope his conscience killed him inside. Thanks for the very kind review and comments my friend!

Your statement is certainly a powerful one, and one that it behoves us to remember and consider for each new war that comes along - war is such a reprehensible solution... Kate xx

Hell yes.

This was the war of my generation.

Crazy then, still haunting in the monumental losses and the horrid way veterans were treated.

I'm with you on every point...

This is a powerful statement. Good luck to your writing.

Peace or war? Why do people choose to go to war? It's all about politics. Did anyone win? Not in my dictionary.

Even those claimed winners, they lost lives too. Is it worth it?

Thanks for sharing

Thanks so much my friend! I obviously strongly agree with your comments and I appreciate them very much. I maybe should acknowledge on my post somewhere that I am talking about the Vietnam war. Where our President Lyndon Johnson owned numerous helicopter factories at the time, and got richer everyday that the war went on. It served no purpose for us as a country, so that is why it's a hard one to stomach. Thanks again for your awesome review and comments.

This is an effective, piece, using the wall as an initial focus. It's hard to see the purpose in any war, but especially more modern ones, where reasoning is clouded in secrecy.

One spag:

'what these heroe's lives were worth' - should be heroes'
