I was a bit concerned those last 2 lines made the poem's finish rather clunky, but your comments about the unusual rhyme have validated my decision.

I thought I checked. That explains why I didn?t get notified if it too. Best wishes for it; it?s excellent.
You should have won that other contest about caring for your father. That was very moving. Glad you won the winter one. I entered the summer 5-7-5, ( came third), and the winning entry did not mention summer (or heat) except in the title! The actual body of it could have been in any season. Made me wonder why it wasn?t dq since your first winter one was. I?ll never understand this committee. Anyway I thought your winning one was amazing.

You have done a good job on this writing prompt. The rhyme scheme is okay, but in some areas, it feels a bit forced as in verses 2 and 3. Also these two words should be written as one (in to) word on line #1 in verse 3. You have selected an excellent visual. Good luck in the contest.
