I was nodding in agreement at each of your examples...
A very clever way to get us thinking of our own examples!
Waiting for the doctor to deliver biopsy results...
Listening for the phone to ring when my husband is inexplicably late for work...
Standing at the luggage carousel at the airport...
Being number 88 at the Deli Counter when they're "Now Serving #60"...
Sitting at a malfunctioning red light for...a lifetime???
(So it seems!)
BTW, your daughter is beautiful!

Absolutely true. All of these questions make one restless to know the answers - and quickly. You have thought of a lot of relevant situations. best wishes for your entry.

This poem, Restlessness, Carrie's with it many examples of those stressors which may keep the emotions on edge, the mind unsettled, and the heart in a state of restlessness. Nice piece.

Writers likely know restlessness better than many as line after line, chapters ad infinitum continually are hashed and rehashed in thought.

Genius just Genius! It was a pure joy.to.read. And you gave me something to. ponder on! I have a few of my own and I would love to share with you, but I fear that may make you Restless!

Genius? Like Genghis Khan perhaps. Haughty and naughty but brilliant?

Tom, this is a wonderful poem for this contest, good luck. The poem is very creative in the way you progress through life, and the things that make you restless are universal, making the whole thing more effective. Great picture to go with it. Exceptional work! Terry.

Hello author, very good. Your poem really covered a wide variety of issues that might make someone restless.
Of special notes:
Life's uncertainties cause
Restlessness.
(Author, indeed, they do.)
I'll add mine ... Waiting for Oct to see if Social Security will give an increase, and just how much ... when prices of everything are going through the roof.
Waiting to hear that my daughter is home and OK after a late-night flight.
Well done. Get a good night's rest. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck. LateBloomer

I had hoped my prompt would get others to share what causes their restlessness thanks for your kind words. Be well

Glad I shared two things which make me restless with you. I thought of a third ... waiting on the line at the DMV--that's the Dept of Motor Vehicle, if you're not American.
Always sharing, LateBloomer

tee-hee to the DMV, though in N.C. they now allow you to mail renewals in and depending on your age renew your license with the old picture for 5 or ten years.
-
Cool.

Your poem is very expressive and descriptive. You have used a wide range of excellent examples to convey your message about restlessness. I was
a restless child; now I'm a somewhat restless seventy-year-old! :-)

You have captured so many of life's moments of wonder and doubt in this simple poem that flows easily and beautifully. I especially enjoyed the line "Grandparents wondering will they look like me?" though I'm not a grandparent.
