Well ne on this poem. I hope we never come to this: "I've heard someday they'll take the old, before their time is due
It's legal to kill babies, why wouldn't they take them too?
I was out of town for a week, so am just trying to get caught up on all my messages.

Interesting poem entry for the What Think You of Aging writing prompt contest.

I think keeping a young mind is a good idea.

The picture of the old folks fits the poem well.

I loved your attitude about aging because it gives hope.

Debi, this is a hoot, and yet comes up with some great insights on aging. Great job... and it looks like you are the frontrunner in the contest! Well deserved!

The poem, An Age-Old Problem, brings the topic of "ripening" to the fore and is addressed with the denial that such things are mandatory. We have to live until we die.

First of all, THANK YOU for speaking up for the unborn children! Several on this site are outraged over the overturning of Roe vs Roe. I'm really having to bite my tongue. Your poem is excellent in every respect--skillfully written in couplets with good rhyming and vividly expressive of a determination to keep old age at bay!!

I love that part of you my beautiful friend, that you are on the side of the innocent baby that doesn't have a choice in the matter. I just can'r thank you enough for the lovely review and words that mean so much. You are an awesome friend Janice and I am so thankful for you.

Now if I was to assume you are included in the picture I would venture my guess is you are wearing the blue outfit because you know who you are and are of afraid to show it

Lol, if my mom would have lived to be around right now, that might have been her as she would be 89 yrs old. And I was the baby of seven kids.
However she was just as stubborn as me and was still doing cartwheels for the kids at 60, before she died at 63. But my friend you are right, I'm not afraid to show it. Maybe after tomorrow and then again in September I will be doing Cartwheels again. They are hopeful that I may walk by Christmas, so I am so excited! Thanks my awesome friend for your as always fun review and comments.

I feel your energy and I don't think you're "old" at all. I'm glad you can be youthful and have fun with your grandbabies! Good job with your rhyming couplets and positive thinking. Best wishes in the contest!

One punctuation suggestion:
which Lord I so appreciate ( which, Lord, I so appreciate)

'Oh thank you so much for the lovely review and such kind words. And your feedback is so appreciated, as it seems I am a comma queen from way back, but (LOL) learning how to tame them down because of friends like you who care enough to catch them. Thanks again my dear friend!

Lol, sorry I just realized what you were saying. You must have wondered what I was talking about since most people tell me to take commas out. Going in to fix it now and thank you for the feedback 😘

This was a cute poem and I think it expresses how many of us feel about getting old in a humorous way. The picture really captures the poem, it is a great pic. Nice piece. easy to read and relate to.

This poem is relatable and funny. Not wanting to "budge" is definitely a common feeling as we get older. The picture goes great with this piece. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

Thank you so very much my friend. We certainly don't want to give in before we have to, right? : ) I'm 67 yrs old, but I have known what it's like to be crippled since I was 27 from Lupus, so as long as my mind is sharp, I don't really buy into the aging thing. However God has blessed me in every way that really counts. Thank you so much my friend for the very kind review and words.

Debi,

I think you have spoken for many of us. It seems that "medicine" is able to keep people alive well beyond what would be natural, and keep them miserable for a good deal of that time. On the other hand, you are right that there is an underground movement to push for euthanasia of the costly, unproductive people. I just turn to God and trust him to help with decision-making about how far to go in circumventing meds that prolong the inevitable while reducing quality of life. Tough, tough subject.

Sue

Thanks so much Susan, as once again I am reminded of why you are such a precious friend, as so many of our views are the same. But you are right, that prayer does help, and lol, if I could get my head out of the sand, I'm on my knees already to pray. Actually I wish l could get down on my knees, but I do pray. : ). Thanks again my lovely friend for the kind review and comments!!
