Still trying to get caught up on my messages from being away, so just seeing this. I hope that things are better now than when you wrote this. Your area sure has had its share of problems.

Thank you very much Anne! I appreciate your reviewing, when I am sure my piece has expired. Yes, there is an update ("A sparkling day") which celebrates answered prayer.

I heard about these floods on the radio while we were traveling and thought about you Wendy. I'm sorry to hear it's in your area again, but glad your home will be safe. These disasters will only keep getting worse if something isn't done about climate change. Stay safe. Hugs.

Thank you Judy. I appreciate your review! Our new government will be much more proactive about climate change, and will bow less to big business demands, I think.

Hi Wendy,
I'm so sorry to hear about the flooding down there. Where exactly is it you live in Australia? I'll be praying for you. The last 3 years haven't been easy. It seems there's a lot of flooding around the world in recent years. Too much water with no place to go.

"... and then guide the victims (though) processes to access government assistance and counselling in the longer term." ...(through)

"We had (catastophic) bushfires in the summer of 2019-2020..."
... (catastrophic)

Hugs,
Kimbob

Thank you so much Kimbob. I live about 50 kilometres from Sydney, near the Blue Mountains.
Wow, I appreciate your eagle eyes! Two typos that I failed to pick up after multiple reads, and others missed them too! Thanks for that.
Prayers are being answered. We were expected to have on-going rain all this week and into next week, but it has been reducing, and today we have a couple of patches of blue sky (but interspersed with light showers). Very thankful. Please keep praying for the victims - more than 55 000 displaced people, many homes and businesses ruined, again!

You have explained the problems caused by rain on Australia's eastern coast well. I saw that in the weather reports for that area. The Disaster Recovery Team plays an important role. You must feel like you're doing something very worthwhile. Praying here.

Wendy,
I'm sorry for all people affected by these disasters.
Your writing is clear and concise; the reader can feel the urgency of your words.
I said a pray that things will improve for you and your community. I like that you include animals, because they are very much victims too. Their owners are further traumatized.
Exceptional work, Wendy.
Blessings,
Cindy

This piece is excellently written, of course, and your life courageously lived.
Bless you.
It's sometimes a wonder that earth is at all habitable.
(I nearly forgot that you were Australian until I got yo your 'torch'. I'm thinking, "Why don't they have flashlights'?)

We are set up in the Emergency Centre, so don't really need a torch except if we need to go out to help some-one bring their few remaining possessions in, but I generally do a day shift. Just got home now, very tired. Such sad stories. People who lost their homes last time and were in temporary accommodation much higher up have now been flooded out again. Yet they remain cheerful and thankful for our help. I'll give a proper update in a day or two. Thank you so much for your wonderful words and the precious gift of six stars. Greatly appreciated!!

Well written Wendy. Your story is gripping and since it is a personal account it gives your reader a sense of angst and worry. I hope and pray that you are all safe and that you are able to handle whatever comes your way, both personally and as a Rescue Volunteer. :)

Thank you Melissa, for your lovely review and encouragement. Just back from a long day at the Evac Centre, and a difficult drive home. By tomorrow the road will probably be impassable. So many sad stories, as many of these people lost their homes in the last flood - and their temporary accommodation, though much higher, has flooded, in what will be an even worse disaster.

Another flood! Yes, we will be praying! Thank you for letting us know. It's good that we can uphold each other across the globe because God hears and cares and He's the only One Who can change things. Thank you for being on the Disaster Recover Team there. That's a powerful witness for the Lord - that you are caring for the community!

Thank you Helen, for your encouraging words, and especially for your prayers. Despite some really sad stories, people are thankful for whatever help we can offer, and remain surprisingly cheerful and determined to manage.

I AM PRAYING. I wish there was some way we could harness the water and ship it here. We are in drought conditions and have well over 100-degree weather. I really don't understand the present weather patterns. Just know I am praying.

Thank you so much for your prayers - and for your lovely words of encouragement! All greatly appreciated. This promises to be even worse than the last record breaking floods. Our climate and weather has gone crazy!

I might not pray, but I can send all my hopes and best wishes to you and your community (both close and more broadly :-)). I have cousins in Australia so I hear about and various natural disasters. It always seems unfair that the same area can suffer from uncontrollable fires and floods in such a short space of time!

In terms of your writing, it is of course impeccable, which is always a pleasant relief because it means I can get on with just reading and enjoying it!

Such lovely words of encouragement! Many thanks. Just home after a long day at the Evac Centre and a difficult drive home - worn out! But at least I have the comfort of a warm dry home, so feeling thankful.
