How sweetly sentimental. This was an adorable tradition. I'm like your wife--couldn't operate the equipment. I wish my husband would get into ordering from Netflix or something similar. We have too big a collection of DVDs. I agree Sean Connery was the best James Bond. Haven't even bothered to watch the latest ones. I'd add Gregory Peck and Cary Grant to my list of favorite actors. I haven't seen some of the more recent movies you mentioned. I think it's wonderful you keep up the tradition of watching a movie. My husband and I watch a lot of very old movies and TV shows, and I think every evening we're watching dead people. I found this very appealing. judi

I'm sorry for your loss of Zoe. You were fortunate to acquire some memories during your retirement, some people are less fortunate. Your writings are interesting and enjoyable to read.

Hi Terry, this story is so sweet, yet sad. I'm sorry that Zoe has passed away, but I loved hearing about the wonderful relationship you had with her. Zoe instilled in you to watch happy movies, and that's a good thing. It's good to smile and laugh. Lovely artwork choice. A pleasure to read.
Keep the Happy Hour Movie going. Margaret ~ LateBloomer

This is a heartwarming piece, Terry. Zoe was quite a good woman and it was evident she adored your times together as much as you did. A genuinely enjoyable read. Best, JohnC

Such beautiful memories, Terry. It sounds like you and Zoe had a strong, lasting relationship, with both of you willing to compromise to please the other. Well written. Good luck in the contest.

A terrific write!
I love that you carved out time every evening to have quality time with each other.
This is written with her memory in mind and with a sensitivity to tradition.
I enjoyed the whimsy, it made me smile. Your writing is from the heart and real.
Thank you for sharing.

Oh, Terry, this is a beautiful piece! I am so sorry to hear you are without your Zoe for now. What wonderful memories! I wouldn't be surprised if she sneaks a peek at those movies with you still. I wish we could see them near us, cheering us on. My husband just retired last Friday. I really love your tradition. Thanks for the idea and sweet story.

Terry,
So nice to think that Happy Hour is a continued part of real life for you and a lovely continued link with the spirit of your beloved Zoe. That time is special in many ways with healing gifts of connection and remembrance.
I am sure Zoe heard you and agreed when you 'said out loud, "Darling, you are going to like this one!"
What's on tonight?

Hi, Terry,
What a bittersweet story!
It was really neat the way you and Zoe compromised on the movies.
I can tell you took pains to really understand where your wife was coming from, and to me, that has a hell of a lot to do with a successful marriage.
My wife and I are very busy with the yard and garden this time of year(She still works) but at least once a week we sit down together and pick out a movie, She essentially likes the romantic type your wife Zoe did, I like westerns and action movies(Think Clint Eastwood, Tom Cruise, Liam Neeson).
She drinks wine, I love a good, single malt scotch.
Lights, Action!
