I did not see this as being insensitive as my first reaction was incredible sadness. There are times when I believe, we all go through times when we feel overwhelmed with circumstances. Suicide may cross our minds but we somehow manage to dig ourselves out. It is only those who have given up hope and life that actually commit suicide.
Best wishes,
Mary

Thanks for reassuring me that the poem is not being insensitive to others' feelings of being overwhelmed, who actually do end it all.

I understand, and there are times for all of us, if we are honest, when we feel like this, and that no-one would miss us. I think Covid has made such situations worse. All those situations you described in your first stanza are MAJOR life events. But somehow, at the right time, some-one comes along or something happens to renew one's zest for life, sufficiently to give the strength to continue. Written with great honesty, a lighthearted cover over a deep, and meaningful and serious issue. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for reviewing. It is easy to feel downcast these days, and to feel unappreciated, but I would never want to miss something... curiosity keeps me engaged.

Despite all the hiccups life is still worth living, and enjoying. Curiosity is a good thing.

Your reasons for not going down that path are the same as mine. When I was severely in the dumps I asked myself, what will happen if you don't kill yourself. The answer was, I don't know, so I thought I had better hang around to find out. The suicide is the one who has lost their curiosity.

Exactly. Curiosity will keep me alive for as long as possible... or necessary... until I become too bored.

This is an interesting mixture of comedy and tragedy. Sometimes life gets so out of control that the only thing left to do is laugh. I'm glad to hear that you drew back from the edge. My daughter's best friend didn't. She jumped from the top floor of the highest hotel in the city.

Stick with the comedy rather than the tragedy. Life is hilarious, black comedy.
That is so sad about your daughter's friend. I lost a couple of friends to suicide in their twenties. I am still angry at them. I would never end my life prematurely - I might miss out on something good.

I love this upbeat write and your love for life is evident here Lisa and the fact that you enjoy the thrill too. We all go through the mill in life and we hit bumps in the road, but there is always someone who is worse off that ourselves and we must forge forward whilst we are still breathing and can enjoy the wonderful things in life, as you say if we close our eyes we might miss something! Much enjoyed, love Dolly x

I doubt that I would ever take up skydiving, but simple pleasures are more to my liking. Being dead is such a waste! I've had 2 friends commit suicide and I am still so angry at them... while understanding their pressures.

I see skydivers every day in Tenerife, but I feel too old now to give it ago and don?t want any broken bones! Ha ha ha, sorry to hear about your friends x x x
