If I didn't know better I would think my husband wrote this. He gets so annoyed at commercials when they come on in the middle of something we are trying to watch. You did a great job with this and they are annoying if they are on too much! Best wishes in the contest. Teri

Thanks, Teri. I know they have to pay for the programs, But so many, so often??? Enough, already.
Thanks for reading and kudos to your husband :)

Aren't we all tired of them? Thank goodness for DVRs and fast forward. I can remember when I first signed up for cable television. The promise was "Pay the cable monthly fee and there will be no commercials." That lasted for what, a year or two? I don't know how long but now we buy cable, pay extra for (+) stations and extra for premiums and STILL get subjected to Mike Lindell. Nothing against Mike, I like him. But come on already, how many pillows can a guy own?

Good job, one we can all agree on.

Thanks, Gary. I still wonder how much ole Mike L. must spend a month on these constant ads. He must be up there, now, with the big boys, and it's a good old American success story, still...

Mike is a real Trumpster you know. He attends every one of Donald's rallies. Usually, Trump personally introduces him. One time when he did, he said something like "Here's a guy who knows how to advertise, he really advertises those pillows doesn't he?" Something like that. Probably one of the truest things Donald said that night.

Don't let me mislead you though. I don't want you to get the wrong idea. Because I really don't care who knows and I want everyone to know, I am a DJT guy all the way. He is my guy; he can do it. Trump in 2024.

    I hope I didn't alienate you.

no, I was for Trump and - don't get ME wrong - and I hope I don't offend you - I think what he did for this country was nothing short of a miracle. I just feel that he continues to shoot himself in the foot with his constant bragging and name calling and there are so many people who truly hate him, plus Conservatives who just can't stomach his personality, I think they would vote for an orangutan before they'd vote for him. I think if he runs, he will split the party and we will lose. I hate to say that, truly, especially since he was so terribly cheated out of the last election, but I do believe it. Also, though I will certainly vote Republican, I am disenchanted with them as a party. They don't care enough about it to even stand strong together. The rhinos think they will be part of the hierarchy of the World Order, so they don't care.

Now this work has everything the challenge expected. It could go far and have you see stars even more perhaps than five Good luck! I feel the same as I sit in my chair hearing these spokespersons drone on and on

I pay extra to watch commercial free to HULU for my favorite shows. I hate them. I understand they are needed to pay for broadcasting. However, I am happy having a choice. You have a great day.

I certainly hope this will qualify for the contest--the prompt calls for a poem, but you state it isn't one. I enjoyed it and thought it had a great resonance to it.
I'm giving you six stars and wishing you the best. This is the best entry I've read all day.

oops. just changed that, but afraid it's too late. Looks like I shot myself in the foot. Thank you, however, for bringing it to my attention, and also for the lovely comments and the wonderful 6. All much appreciated!

I always wonder if the celebrities promoting those products REALLY use them or have used them! And the Medicare Advantage Plan advertisements . . . --over and over!! You have used well-detailed examples to convey your message about commercial burnout.

Thanks, Janice, me, too, (wonder if they use them) although Huckaby does always say about being a paying customer, however, you know he gets paid for doing the commercial. When you hear about how much commercials cost by the minute, or even second, can you imagine how much these people pay for the number of ads on TV a day?

Oh this is so true. I enjoyed your conversational rant. I've had a gutsfull too. Here in New Zealand the adverts are different but just as annoyingly inane - ex-celebrities, rip-off deals masquerading as bargains, repetitious twaddle blah blah blah.

seems it's everywhere and the thing is, no kidding, the same ones come on about every 10 or 15 minutes. How do they afford them, for one thing. Commercials are expensive.

I'm sure there used to be rules about adverts claiming deodorant could turn you into Hugh Heffner and Cornflakes make you a world class athlete, but they seem very clever at getting round them!

My favourite is a bottle of Radox shower gel in my bathroom, which proudly proclaims:

"Renowned to help promote relaxation."

Which, translated, means 'some say it might make you want to be relaxed'

Mike
