I have sent my prayer. It's long distance, so I don't know how long it will take to have any effect. My heart goes out to the affected people. Five stars for your article and six stars for your helping out.

Thank you Paul. Happy for five stars! I appreciate both your review and your long-distance prayers.

Jim certainly went the extra mile to get to the centre. Your generosity of time and comfort as volunteers shows how compassion and a listening ear can make all the difference to stressed people in overwhelming situations. Small acts of kindness are easy and essential to create community.

Yes, Jim is quite special. You are right, and that's what I wanted to share. It doesn't take much to make a difference to some-one who's going through difficulties. Thursday will be interesting, as I think some evacuees may well be owners of the riverside multi-million dollar houses. The banks there are very high - but not high enough this time I think. Usually the floods are a few km further downstream, nearer to the choke-points. Thanks so much for continuing to follow and review. Always appreciated.

Thank you for sharing this great story. You and Jim are in my thoughts and prayers. There are limited people like you two. Those people in need are lucky to have people as you both. I wish you and Jim the best. Stay safe. And may God bless all of you.

This work has reached the exceptional level

This is an inspirational account of what is happening almost'behind the scenes ' of this flooding disaster - no fanfare 'not an exciting story' but a story of what being a good 'neighbour ', so to speak, really is - how brave of everyone involved

It was interesting to get the insight - just that bit of learning about not just the emergency situations, but the ways people help, and how these centres are organised. I do worry with newer app-based things that certain disadvantaged demographics will be left isolated - the UK government is doing more and more via online services, which is great for the likes of me but terrible for some of my elderly relatives.

It's a side note, of course, but you made me think of it.

This is written with your trademark narrative flow and gentle descriptions - this is way harder than most realise. I never feel as though you're reaching for the right word or struggling to explain something - it's just there, clear and meaningful.

Mike

PS: My best hopes and wishes go out to all affected.

Thank you Mike. I so much appreciate your review, and you have no idea how encouraging your words are, especially the last paragraph about my writing! Thanks too for your good wishes. The next evac centre will be interesting. These will include people with multi-million dollar homes on the river banks - but no flood has ever reached them before, it's usually further downstream near the "choke-points".
    Thanks again.
