You have shared your darkest moments in such a classy way. It took away the pain that could have dominated your life's story. I appreciate who you were growing up and who you have now become. This write seeped happiness, and I enjoyed it immensely. Best, JohnC.

Thank you. My dark moments were the worst years of my life and not something I care to relive. I have written about the death of my older son a few times and I think it helped me heal. I still find it hard to talk about it with anyone but I needed to get it off my chest. Hugs

Cats and quirks are two of the cornerstones of my existence! I love that your author's notes reference the 'late 1900s' - that brings home how many years away they are! lol. I really enjoyed getting to know you a bit better :-)

Thank you. It's is always great to meet another cat-dominated person. I love the furry dictators and would be lost without them . Hugs

I feel I want to offer you my condoleances, as I have formed the impression you lost your second husband recently. But you don't talk about it, so maybe we'll just gloss over that. You seem to have had a hard life overall so far, but come through sense of humour intact, which bodes well. Your short memoir is well-written and held my attention... this is going to be a difficult contest both for the readers to choose who to vote for, and for the writers to win. Good luck. Kate xx

Thank you. I'm what you might call hootless. I don't give a hoot if I win the contest or not. I write more for the fun of it. Yes, I miss my husband but he had been ill and in pain for some time. I think it was a blessing to him when he died. Hugs

I love the chatty, conversational tone of this...

We might have been sitting across from one another, drinking tea or the beverage of your choice!

You have a wonderful attitude for one 76 years young!

Just run in place for a bit ~ I'll catch up with you in no time!

Addendum: Congrats on your third place finish!!!

Thank you. Cows are individual characters too. It used to amaze folks that I had names for each one ( over 300 ) They would ask me how i could tell them apart as they were all black and white Holstiens. When you spend seven days a week with them, it's easy. Hugs

I very much enjoyed your well-written story, laced with a little humour here and there, and I like your compassionate heart in caring for cats (I am allergic to cats, so it's dogs for me!) Best wishes for your entry.

Thank you. I do love my furry dictators and my poor outnumbered dog. Of course, I know I must live to 90 to oulive them all, but I intend to. Hugs.

Thank you for the introduction. It is always a pleasure to meet someone knew, especially when they are nice with a delightful and fun personality. You seem like someone I am going to enjoy getting to know. I recently turned 79, I am a great grandfather to two boys with a girl on the way due in October. I have one grandson and one grand daughter. I have one son, and two daughters, the eldest is deceased. My writing is all over the place, poems, short stories, with a few essays thrown in for good measure. I do not submit that often as I always like to build up my member dollars so that I can adequately promote my work. Now that I have no doubt talked your ear off, I will close by saying, I enjoyed the visit, look forward to hearing from you again, hopefully soon.

Well, if you're in your 70's and haven't aged much since the 1990s, you look terrific. (Your note says 1900s and I would change that.)
I love that you talk with cows and that you love cats and it seems all animals. I am glad you are here sharing your stories! Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you. That photo was taken in the late 1900s so I would be lying if I changed it at this point. I do look pretty much as I always did wth the exception of a few wrinkles and some droopy sin in areas I would rather not mention. I need to get some new photos of me now to post on here. Hugs

What a delightful story.
I love the humor peppered throughout, definitely helps to smooth out the edges.
This is well written, composed and presented. The photo selected adds that personal connection from writer to reader.
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you. I still look pretty much the same, but I do need to get some more recent photos. There is a 500 word limit to this contest, so I had to do a compact version of my life. It was fun. Hugs.

You would have to have a sense of humor with that many siblings. This is a nice write up you did of your life. The early years were rough. Best of luck in the Describe yourself contest.

This was interesting, self-revealing, and well-written. I enjoy learning more about the people on the site. You can do that to some extent in sending and receiving reviews, but this was a dedicated topic.
Best wishes.

Thank you. You can't go over your whole life in under 500 words. I'm not sure I could do it with 5000, but I did my best to cover the basics. Hugs.
