Congratulations on your third place finish!
The Uni sunt poem is precisely for these reflections...

The years have flown by...

Here we are!

What a great message here...

We ought not waste our living obsessing about dying!

Dying is an overpowering, all-encompassing thought that we all must face and endure. I think about it all the time. To the point that although my health is not the best I am not on death's doorstep, yet I just made out my will. Am I inviting the old boy into my life?

Very thought provoking.

Great poem for the contest. This is an honest and authentic look at death and how we deal with the ever-present, looming possibility of dying. Well done.

Excellent entry for the Write an Ubi sunt Poem contest. It's a very interesting poetic form, I'm going to try it.

I think you managed to capture the essence of transcendence in your ubi sunt poem.

I enjoyed reading your poem about death, written in your own unique style. You have a way with words that is captivating. Your writing flows naturally and it's easy to understand. Well done.

These are really very relatable views of mortality and the reality of death and how we viewed it over the years. I like how you set the tone from the couplet in the beginning. Best wishes in the contest!

Well done, Sharon. I suppose we do have those thoughts. It's hard to avoid the reality's of it as we go through life. I know the longer I live the more I think about it. We will never be ready for it. The news is filled with it every day. Death is big news! It sells! No way we can avoid it. Ugh!!!

Sorry to be out of sixes. A wonderful poem of the statges of life in view of heaven. It is my experience that God comes before the transition to prepare us. I am ready at all times as my life is in Christ, and I have kissed death more times than I can count. Those two truths, the real life experiences, have readied me, I suppose. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest,

This poem is honest and faithful and hit home to me as my Granddaughters talk about dying because they have witnessed people dying through the pandemic. My own daughters never spoke of dying when they were growing up, but children who have lived through the pandemic have known death and it has been too close to home. I rarely think of dying and my own wish is that it is quick and painless. I am sorry to hear you have had ill health and appreciating every moment of life is the best way to overcome your fears, a poignant and honest write showing your open heart here, love Dolly x

This hit home for me. Not that I obsess with dying, but I picture if I wasn't here how things would be different to my family. Now that I'm past sixty, I think I may have only 20 years left(hopefully more) and twenty years goes by in a blink. Thanks for sharing.

I'm past 60 too, but no one knows how long they have left...I hope we both live to be 100. Thanks so much for this great review. :)

This is a good rhyming poem. The rhyme scheme works except in one line. That is the line ending with strife. I feel the meaning of that word doesn't fit that verse. The visual fits okay. It's a bit happy/ dreamlike for a poem about death. Good luck in the contest!

You are welcome. Woman, you have skills. The change is perfect. It is also a touch (sensory) word, which always if used well add another way of feeling the text.
