That's a really nice story. I enjoyed it! Sounds like you got the perfect pet in Sunny. Why on earth would they call him "Crank"? It was extra special that you had him for Christmas Day.
I can understand the owner asking so many questions. It's good, really. A lot of people get a dog, and end up tying it to a tree in the backyard. What a terrible existence! I've seen it so many times, and I just want to shake the owners. It's a crime, and they feel no guilt whatsoever.
I remember the Christmas so many years ago when we got a pet for a present. He was a black Cocker Spaniel, and we named him "Kringle".
You have the perfect entry for the writing prompt, "A Special Day". Good Luck with it!

Thank you so much for such an encouraging review. (The story came second in the contest.) Yes, he is just right for us, and he is dearly loved. In retrospect I am very glad the rescue organisation was so thorough. Pets are very vulnerable as you say, and they need our love and care. Thanks again.

Thank you very much! Until I had my first dog I was also unfamiliar with it. But dog owners everywhere refer to that crazy excited running around in circles, while also throwing and catching a toy as zoomie. It might just be an Australian expression.
