This is a well-written essay. The font is large enough for my old eyes to see. The essay was well-organized. Grammarly is a good grammar and spelling site to use. I liked how you recognized those who helped you on the site. However, what I mostly like is the undercurrent of humor throughout this essay. You take yourself "kinda serious," but you are mainly having fun bonding with others who enjoy writing. Yes, I know "kinda" is a slang term. LOL

This gave me a good laugh...well, in-between the horrored realization of how accurate it was, which means that I'm probably an addict, as well.

Yes, I do think you are addicted to FS, but then the best way to improve in your writing is simply to write. And listen to other writers. Ideas come in cycles. Sometimes I have too many ideas, I don't know what to do with all of them. I keep a journal of story ideas. I really enjoyed your piece especially the part where you named others in your gratitude for their feedback. Thanks for sharing.

What's great about this post is that so much of your personality and sense of humor comes through in the writing. That is a big secret of it. You have to be relaxed and have the proper perspective to write in a way that seems natural, not contrived. Also the phenomenon of popularity comes through in your assessment of Fanstory. People relish the prospect of popularity, and that drives the ambition to post and get all those reviews. In some ways it is more of a popularity contest that a venue for really creative stuff. estory

I think I am an FS addict too. I only sleep on Monday nights (having exhausted myself by playing scrabble all day) and maybe Thursdays (after my politics fix on the TV - very tiring), the other nights are FS nights. FS addiction is extremely dangerous. You have to learn to keep it under control. I refuse all pressure (including from myself) to put real cash into promoting posts. This keeps my posting levels within reasonable bounds, and also generally as a knock-on effect stops me writing too much. So I spend a LOT of time revising. It also means I read a lot (I read much more than I review as I only review if I have something to say - another world of the vicious circles of FS opens up before my feet, but we won't go into that. Some people complain I don't actually say what I think of their post when I review. Just to clarify, I say what the post makes me think. Don't writers want to know that anymore? Do they only write to be worshipped, or what?). Kate xx
