Hi Terry,
The title drew me in. Another area that is under-rated frequently on site.
I don't like to give a bad review. - don't give a bad review, give a critique!
I hate Grammarly with a passion that even I struggle to describe.
this made me chuckle - I think a lot of use have been there but what this post proves most of all is that if a writer is up for it and willing, improving is always on the cards. Providing you find the right folk along the way!

It does take a lot of reviewing to earn enough member dollars to promote our work. Like you, I have leaned a lot and made a lot of good friends.

I love it, Terry. You have certainly expressed how easily it is to become addicted to FS. This was really great. I am no expert in punctuation and grammar, though maybe better than most beginning and intermediate writers; I do, however, know an entertaining story when I read one, and this is it. Welcome to FS. Blessings!

I have learned so much here with a wealth of possible growth ahead of me. The education I have received here would have cost me more money that I have access to. So, I feel totally blessed. Hahaha, we have all been there and the addiction lasts for quite a few years. Then it slowly gets better. But having said that, it's a great site for learning and be taught. I'm still learning. English is my second language and all the writers you've mentioned and quite a few more soon took me under their wings. I have learned so much and been guided by untold friendship. Ulla:)))

Well, I grew up in Denmark where Danish is spoken. Now I live in Spain where Spanish is spoken. In Texas, I believe, you still speak English. Lol. all best, Ulla:)))

I also don't like to write bad reviews, however I must tell you that you forgot to mention one other person in your story, that in my opinion has contributed to your addiction. I feel partially responsible, so that person is me. It was you who gave me the courage and confidence to write a few stories, which was big for someone who had only written poetry her whole life. Then you held my hand and continued to support me to the end. Because of the kind of person you are, l know that meant almost as much to you as it did to me. Since then you have been on the top of my cheerleading squad.
So I am admitting that you are a very big part of my addiction, yet I know I can't blame you as it was my choice to accept the help and to fall in such a special friendship with you. I enjoy writing more than ever and entering contests, but as you mentioned it's the people, as we all have favorites that we are in constant touch with. Yet a newcomer, like Gary can come in and touch your heart, talk your ear off (or was that the other way around) and become one of your favorites in no time at all. I could write a story about all the reasons I am a FS addict, but the fact that even though l am still stuck in this hospital, and I keep sneaking out when nobody's watching to go to FS Land, pretty much sums it up for me. And when l do get out of here, I plan on calling more people out that are responsible for this addiction of mine and you know who you are.
I'm proud of you Terry, as l suspected you too were one when you tried to "retire,"
but was so happy when you came back to us, which must make me terribly codependent. Thank you Terry

Lol, I didn't mean that part about needing another shout out, but meant to show how much your friendship has meant to me and knowing you, you are the type to be there for others and feel good about it. And in order to keep the spending down somewhat, I have to review more, but haven't even caught up with thanking reviewers. I think this story was the most fun yet, besides your nephews, the spitters. 😊

Sly fox that you are, I often think repeat winner's entries are easily identified, and friends, of course, support friends. And the dilemma of giving bad reviews is real. I hold no advanced degrees in creative writing or literature. I know what you mean but where else can you gain points but to review, review, review, which ain't necessarily bad unless one has to write 150 characters about a seventeen syllabic short haiku or whatever. So, I don't, of course. Don't tell anybody but some entries don't rate five stars, the least I give. Ending, there are favorites I enjoy. You (kiss-kiss), Wendy G, Debi, Susan N, Giraffmang, and 13th. Be well.
That's okay that you didn't mention me. I have yet won entry to the inner sanctum.
