An interesting conclusion to this interesting tale, Mike. I'm glad I caught these last two chapters, even though they are no longer promoted. Thanks for the chuckles and nail biting too.

Thank you, Judy, I really appreciate that :-). The next installment is likely to be a longer story, so more chapters coming soon, and The Companions might finally get some answers!

It's over, but not over. I imagine Rozlyn will want revenge for the gobbit, and she probably still has plenty of people who want her. Was it her that was the target, and not the jewel?

Ooh, you're a shrewd one, lol. It's great to kniw the hints were there. Indeed, there is much more to come :-)

Thank you so much for following the tale - I couldn't keep going without you and a couple of other reliable readers.

The UK English adds a tad more flair to this interesting saga.

Welts on the arse, not a pretty scenario.

Seems all turned up rosy in the end.

I was thinking as the gang banged their tankards together and swore their allegiance to Rozlyn, what a fine ending for one book in a series. And there remained the magically murky reminder that evil will materialize where "a thousand new realities shrugged in unison and opened their doors."

Thanks again, Jay - it's been awesome having you along for the ride. The next book will probably be a fair bit longer, although I'll let length be the result of what happens rather than the other way around :-)

By longer, do you mean each chapter? Or the entire book. I really wouldn't go any longer on the chapters. In fact, what I've done to good effect, is to keep it short and increase the font size -- much like a codpiece.
reply by the author on 15-Jul-2022
Aha - the Codpiece Method! Lol. No, I meant the overall book. My rule of thumb with chapters for Fanstory is, when I hit 1000 words, start trying to wrap it up, so they usually end up around 1400 - 1700 which is as long as most will tolerate.

You've obviously created a series, as the indicated revenge lead in indicates. I think you're in love with your characters, with a great balance, with "tales" in the gnomes, of which I haven't their images in my head as yet. But our revered leader in Roz is with us, a trifle trans gender, but then, it is a modern world. Well done, blessings Roy

Thanks, Roy :-). It's been great fun getting this story posted. Now I'm into completely new territory with the merry gang for the third installment.

The END-ish? You should have posted this on the weekend so that more sixes would have been available to finish this end of this adventure! Glad everything came to a satisfying end and even Olaf got his bills settled. Glad you left the door open for more adventures with the companions.

I liked Roz's theory about how merbabies are born. But I think that she was thinking of seahorses...Could be the same...

Indeed, it was seahorses that gave me the idea :-). I'd love to break the cycle of everyone saving 'big releases' for Sunday to maximise sixers because it's self-reinforcing. Of course, I'm only harming myself by rebelling, lol. Thanks so much for the member pump, by the way :-)

A great ending to this indeed! What an enjoyable read from word one. I had a blast at every twist and turn and at every delightfully funny corner. Your comedic writing ability is unique and sensationally refreshing at all the right moments. Stay delightful, my friend!

Brilliant, I just wish I had a six left. I loved this gang, they are all exciting characters who all love Roz, and she loves them. They get the job done and some!! I've already read the A Penny for you Fought, so bring on the Dragon With a Capital D! I'm hooked on this series. Well done, Mike. ð???ð??¾

Thank you, Sandra. I'd genuinely never get any long form writing finished without a few regular readers, so truly - thank you.

I don't know why you aren't getting more readers. This is such a fabulour story. Some of what you write is hysterically funny, I love it.

Oh. I was so sad to get to the end. It was well-brought together, but nothing was resolved except Roz's debts (not a negligable gain). The Hexapussy is still somewhere in nature. The good news of course is that the band are going to reform for another round of adventures, and that in fact I can pig out on these starting straight away... This will be very bad for my time management (I'm still in Foreign Form Poetry class twice a week, and asap I have to start a 2-week world-buillding programme) but I will manage somehow. While you get stuck in to adventure 3. What fun ahead. Kate xx

Thanks so much, Kate :-). I've loved having you along for the ride. I'm sorry part 2 won't be promoted any more. I've just started drafting part 3, which I'm feeling will be closer to a novel in length whereas 1 and 2 have been novellas.

You certainly have a full schedule! I wish you well :-)

Promotion doesn't matter. I read for pleasure, not dollars. I'd pay to read one of your books now I've met Roz and co. Oh I'm unbelievably busy. You wouldn't believe it. Ifeel like the duck joke. K

"In my experience, nothing's that convenient. This is going to come back and bite us. (As I continued reading this post, I got my answer. Yes, there will be a sequel. I'm doing a happy dance. Thank you.)
