What an amazing story of survival. Your ancestor did not perish as she had work to do in this world before retiring to a peaceful spot underground to await the great and promised resurrection. You have evry reason to be proud, you can make her memory even more profound by trying to emulate her bold and brave actions by not being afraid of those around you who may not look like you , speak the same language or believe in the God you worship.

Thank you. Yeah, if she had died, I might not be here today. LOl I was really impressed with this ancestor and hope I'm even half the person she was. Hugs.

Wow, what a story. I am curious how you came by all this information. Did you research it? Funny how many of these events in history are tied to people living today. I remember my great grandmother telling stories how she danced with Frank James, Jessie's brother. And my good friend is an ancestor of the Glass that was the main character in the movie "Revenant." You must enjoy telling this story.

Thank you. My sister does genealogy work, and she gave me this information. I asked her if we had any interesting ancestors and this is what she came up with. Hugs

Hello Friend,
It's a NICE piece of General Non-Fiction incorporating Penelope's whole long life full of ordeals which she faced bravely, got the better of them, and thus became an exemplary fighter plus WINNER!
The story has impressive phraseology, CAPTIVATING flow throughout from the beginning to the end, and BEAUTIFULLY depicts its theme.
Picture complements the theme.
INTERESTING Indeed!
BEST OF LUCK in the contest.

Thank you and thanks for the six stars. I appreciate them. I never knew I had such interesting ancestors until my sister found this for me. I find it amazing that Penelope didn't die from such terrible injurys. Hugs.

The fact that your great grandma lived for a hundred and ten years without drugs to offset the afflictions that old age brings, makes one think how long would she have lived with that assistance. Well done, you can be justifiably proud of your great ancestor, admire your good writing, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you. It must have been tough to live through all she did. It is lucky she didn't get a major infection or gangrene from such terrible wounds. Hugs.

Your grandmother, indeed, deserved your being proud of her. She was a really tough cookie to endure all of what she went through. I do have one suggestion, though. The original inhabitants were not Indians, but Native Americans. Great job!

Thank you. I did mention that they were attacked by Native Americans while in the woods. After that it seemed less complicated to say Indians. Hugs.

You did a really good job of laying out the facts of her life in an easy to follow manner. Penelope is a really interesting character with a quite entertaining life. She must have been really tough, probably the reason she lived to such a venerable old age. Best of luck in the ancestor contest.

That is interesting indeed, what a story. Just imagine all the injuries she suffered, yet managed to survive. Wow, it is indeed amazing. I was riveted all way through.

Thank you and thanks for catching my oops! I will edit and correct. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. It does help so much to have reviewers read the stories as it is so easy to make a tiny slip. Hugs.

A very good story for this contest, and good luck. It also sounds like a movie would be a good idea. She had a lot going on in her life. You should think about a script and go for it. Excellent work. Thank you for entering the contest. Terry.

The story flows well. The time line is well constructed. The narrative stays on point. The images are clear. The language is simple, but powerful. A nice homage.

Thanks for a good read.
