An interesting and thought-provoking entry about the after-life. I think we can all give up on trying to improve - no-one can be perfect enough for life with God, unless the atonement by Jesus takes place. Trusting Him simply to forgive us, is sufficient, and God accepts Him as our substitute. Just by His grace and love for us.

I am all in; however as sinners here, and being cleansed through the blood of Christ, why would we be any different in the afterlife?

That's when everything is perfected - new immortal body, new heavens and earth, sin removed ....! Looking forward to it, as there will be His reign of justice and peace. No more fallible, corrupt or weak governments.

This was good! Much food here for thought. My particular favorite was "Written in languages no longer used; thus, the value they hold might compare with a road map printed in the 50's." That really made me think. Do languages' concepts and precepts become extinct when they die? Or do so valuable that it requires work of specially trained linguists and translators to unlock them? I'll be giving that a lot of thought in the days to come. So, thank you for being such a good writer that you evoked this resonse!

To answer your question, God's truths are undeniable. What he commanded Adam was fraught with confusion for a mortal. Think about this He and Eve were commanded to go forth and multiply, and yet they were running about nakid without the intelligence to fit their congruent parts together, until... they partook of the fruit on the tree of knowledge. Hmm. After that, like politicians and opinionators, what one says means one thing to the originator whereas the listeners hears differently in hopes their words will somehow meet their requests. I'm rambling. Over and out.

This was a well-written musing on physical life and what may or may not follow it. I particularly enjoyed your section about how past accounts of what occurs may be outdated - I like the idea that the universe, just like everything else, moves on and systems may change.

Believe it or not I left the l for it means the same thing and was found in the dictionary.com that I use meaning in the usual manner. It was new to me and I thought fit as well as more so. Thanks for the review.

A lively, intelligent, and above all, a lighthearted account, at times even whimsical, about what no one knows here where the senses end and in the margin before faith takes over. At the last gasp, the most stringent among us in faith has to say to himself just before straight-lining, "Dang, I hope I was right." I enjoyed reading this, Tom. Good luck with the contest.

Witty and whimsical. I can be that and more, as well as less. It seems what I have difficulty doing is maintaining sanity throughout a writing.

Sanity's overrated, Tom! I have mentors from both sides.

Hey, Tom, I was once told heaven is what we want it to be. I'm not sure if that concept, as it was intended, made me feel any better about death. I believe in God, and with that said, I think eternal anything is more frightening than death itself, but I have no doubt He knows what He's doing. On the flip side of the heavens coin, I have to believe in some afterlife while I'm on earth other than eternal blackness when we are not. Best, JohnC

Mystery abounds and pastors, preachers, rabbis, imams and pujaris, when without an answer uniformly say that is a mystery of God.

The afterlife is a mystery to us all if there even is such a thing. I'm like you, I have never seen or heard from one who has passed away, even if I would love to. I love the artwork you added to the story. Good luck in the contest.

I am unsure whether you got the entire piece. I checked and found after its release the third paragraph incomplete and the last two paragraphs missing. Without them I'd be short on the 400 word count. Thanks for stopping in my portfolio.
