Wow, wow, wow.
I love the way that, first, you set the stage, explaining why secrets are not in anyone's best interest. Next, you intensified the message. Then, finally, you offered up the example in a raw, honest display.
Super job with this. I bet it will do great in the contest. But, regardless, it is an excellent piece of writing that I will remember. (the ultimate writer-to-writer compliment, yes?)

family secrets and finding your brother.... how exciting! I used ancestry.Com and 23andme. I found out im 100% spanish.
Your story moved along nicely and the plot was easy to understand and follow. Good character development.

I for one don't appreciate secrets of any kind. In your example you reflect the damage certain secrets can imbue. And for what reason? Always the better route is the truth and the whole truth.
