LOL Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. Yes, I have had numerous hermit crabs through the years. In your defense it's very hard to tell is they're alive or not. I enjoyed reading and wish you luck with this contest.

It's so easy to make a mistake about pets that never do anything! Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for a super review and for your good wishes. All are appreciated.

I liked this poem for it's subject, the fun and well written rhyme, and its humor. Indeed, having odd pets can be a problem. You learned about the hibernation of hermit crabs. When my son was young, I learned that Guinea Pigs copulate immediately after the mother gives birth (yes, even as the placenta lies wet in the cage) and that the two cuties we had were not sisters, but a couple. Try explaining that to a young child!

Lol. Yes, pets can be a source of a lot of awkward explanations. Thanks for your great review.

I haven't heard about hermit crabs for a long time. Thanks for reminding me about them in your poem. Excellent work! No mistakes found. Good job! Good luck in the contest!

Hilarious. Such a fun rhyming poem. It reminded me of a time when a friend and I collected a score or more, storing them in a crawl space below a local grocer's store. Then we forgot about them. I cannot imagine the smell their deaths would have caused. I believe we were around ten.

Hi WendyG, I had seahorses
for pets long ago. Then one
day two sisters my mother
was babysitting put Elmer's
glue in their tank and they
died. Not a cheerful memory,
but your story reminded me
of that memory. You've
penned this so well. The
rhyming is great. My very
best wishes for the contest.

Nice poem for the my pet contest. There is a tongue-in-cheek humor element to this verse that makes it delightful to read. At the same time, there is a hint of facing death that underlies the surface. Well done.

Thank you so much. Super review. Yes, for the poor crabs there was more than a hint of facing death ...
