It was an amazing stroke of luck to discover the English family. Dad never knew about it as he died in 1996 and this happened in 2003. I met his half-sister a couple of times and learned more about their family life. (I am adopted, so artistic ability comes through my birth side - I have an artist half-sister, and through nurture with my Dad's encouragement.)

Did you follow it up Jenny, I think my maternal grandfather had a second relationship in England, I never met him, but the interesting thing is I think his was a bigamous relationship also. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

What a strange way to find out a new and possibly disturbing piece of family history. Please don't be too hard on your grandad. War is a terrible thing and does strange things to those who get caught up in it.

That is a surprise! I remember you shared about your artist grandfather whom you never knew. But what a remarkable way to learn about his other family by simply talking to the museum administrator!
