There are many fine people in the past and the present who have quietly lived a life of integrity. What a wonderfully written poem. Best of luck with your writing!

Have a great day, and God bless.

Thank you, Mike, for the Six stars and your very kind and uplifting review. The people like Calvin, pathed the way for us here in the present. I often wished I lived back then, No Bidens, Putin's or
    nuclear weapons. Willie

Hello Willie P. Smith,
Nice piece of Western Poetry having impressive wording, smooth flow throughout from the beginning up to the end with lovely rhyming scheme, and beautifully depicting that many great achievers enter and leave this world like Calvin quite unnoticed!
The last two lines are particularly noteworthy.

The Western, rhyming poem "Calvin" tells the story of Calvin Short. One line reads, "Few people even knew his name," and this reviewer is not one of the few who did.

I'm sure there are many such men and women who have not been credited with their pioneering lives back in those days. It is nice of you to write of one of them, and make others aware of what they did to prepare for the masses who followed. Very well done, Willie. :)) Sandra xx

I really like the sound of Calvin. A good man who read his bible. The world could do with more of his type today. He faced adversity and raised three kids on his own.
I also enjoyed the rhyme in the poem. Sorry, out of sixes.

Decent mountain we're hard to find they were a quiet sort stayed to themselves for the most part. The hunted fished and worked the fur trade and when things got rough took on being a guide to make ends meet for explorers mapping new territories.

They lived a very hard life, but they were a big part of taming the old west. Thanks for the review and stars. Willie

Wow, this fantastic, Willke. A heartwarmingstory told here in poetry fashion. A man I would've admired and befriended.
Sending you my best today as always,

This poem, Calvin, tells a quick tale of a mountain man who, like others, helped create understanding between indigenous people and those pushing America further west.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
