Yes, I can relate to the heat for I am a native Texan. A great rant to your four boys. I have three of my own, but all live here in Texas, so I don't have anywhere to go where it's cooler. Creative and very nicely done.

Thank you for the kind review.

This is funny, Barbara, and totally understandable. Are you sure that wasn't the Geico Gecko trying to save you money on your car insurance?
I'd happily invite you to Connecticut, but you'd only be trading the skillet for a double-boiler. Honestly, I don't think there's a cool spot in any of the Lower Forty-Eight. If you do find a cool spot, send us a post card.
Peace, Lee

I'm sure Alaska is the answer. LOL I mentioned to my husband 'I'm moving to Alaska'. His respond, "I'm not sure I want to go to Alaska." I smiled. "I'm going to Alaska, I didn't say anything about you." LOL He's used to me after 45 years.
Comment from Gloria ....
Well you are a lot calmer than I am. I would've seriously jumped if I reached into my purse and found a little animals, no matter how cute. lol
Very entertaining and reasonable rant. And I agree about humidity. 100 degrees feels like about 130 degrees with humidity.
Wishing you the best of luck with your little gecko. Hopefully he/she doesn't have a big family.
Much enjoyed. :))

Thank you for the kind review. This little critter is still roaming my kitchen area.

I sympathize with you about the heat. I live is a high summer temperature state also. I moved from a state with cold winters and heavy snow to a state with hurricanes, heat, and geckos. I hate when they sneak into my house. I suppose there will be some type of discomfort wherever you go. I hope one of your four boys responds.

lol, as cute as it is, I think I'd jump half a mile in the air if I grabbed one unexpectedly! Lol, let me know where you move to :-). Alaska sounds great - and looks great in the movies, too. Low populations and frigid weather both sound great to me!

I think someone on Facebook was talking about a Gecko invasion she is in Texas too...is it a Texas anomaly? As I wrote I remembered who it was. I should introduce you to my long time friend the Cat lady. You can discuss Geckos. I forget if we are friends on Facebook?
One question... Although[,??] Texans have no...did it need a comma there?

Texas has had geckos ever since, I've lived here. They're all over the place. Thank you for the kind review.

Haha, you are certainly entitled to your rant, Barbara. I enjoyed
reading it. I know all about 'there's little humidity here.' Hot is
hot is hot. It's been hotter than Hades here with no rain. I heard
way far north Alaska has the first winter storm warning for snow.
Any snow we get melts the next day. The gecko is cute, but outside
as you said.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

We've experienced that sort of weather here, this year we've had record floods in the eastern states, before That years of drought and heat, I hope you get a cooler place, the heat day after day can be oppressive, beautifully written Barbara, thanks for telling us, you're further north? Well done, blessings Roy

Yes, I got that dear Barbara, I thought you might be. Here?s hoping

I can empathize with you, Barbara. I often think I'd rather live closer to my children, and it's been very hot here this summer too. The one who is most willing to take me, when I'm ready, really doesn't have room with two teenagers, and the last few summers their weather has been hotter and dryer than ours. For the first time a forest fire is threatening their village. So, it could be worse. A gecko in my purse might send me over the top though. lol Great story. Thanks for sharing.

This little guy was adorable and is still in my kitchen. I was so shocked, I dropped him. I'm now ready for him so the next time, I'll catch him and put him outside.
-
We don't have them here, of course, but when I was visiting Thailand, I had one on the wall of my room one morning. Somehow it was comforting just to watch him.
-
They are adorable and don't harm anything except insects.

I wouldn't have wanted to find a gecko in my handbag. I don't care how cute it was. Good luck with finding a cooler state. All those days of 100 + temperatures aren't good, especially when there's been no rain. We're in the 80s in Indiana, so you might want to move here. We've had plenty of rain, too. I know what you mean about Texans driving in bad weather. When I was living in Mesquite, there was an ice storm one winter, and drivers couldn't handle it.

I live on top of a hill and when it snows, the police put up barriers. Nobody can go up or down.

Those snows must be fairly rare in Texas. People surely weren't isolated like that for very long. judi
