Barbara, I love this little rant! It has been hot in Texas this summer, but for the next week, it is cooler, and rain is a possibility. All is good. I liked the note, "Who wants mom?" Reminds me of that ad in the newspaper, A Place for Mom. Good job. Terry.

Thank you for taking time to read this after all the money has expired. I appreciate it.

Barbara,
You tell your story's dark side very well. I also enjoyed the humorous side about finding a small creature in your purse.
I'd love to complain about my weather here, but I can't. It's been 77 here at the height of the day, and lower 60's at night.
Congratulations on your all time best rating!
Blessings,
Cindy
Ps we will eventually pay for our nice weather in January, when it's often 15 below for a few days. Yuk!

I knew my little creature was still in the house. I was gathering the kitchen dish towels this morning to wash them, and the little creature showed up again. HMMM

Nice story. Nicely written.
We love reading rants - they make us feel better about ourselves and our own, personal, over-the-top proclivities.
I'm your neighbor in Arkansas. Our local humidity is usually low. Lately I've been working a couple hours outside in the morning (7-9, or 10) and have had to strip down and hang my soaking wet clothes on the porch rail before coming in for a shower. Hot and humid.
Good luck with your move.

We've stayed around 17 - 28%. It's just been so darn hot. My son in St. Louis yesterday actually had a worse heat index because they had 78% humidity.

This is a sweet rant. I hope one of your kids lives much further north. I don't know how you put up with it. We've been getting your Texas heat here in Illinois and somebody's humidity.

Two live in Missouri. St Louis had a higher heat index than us yesterday because of humidity. One lives in Florida and one in Texas by the Gulf. He has loads of humidity and mosquitos the size of Rhode Island. I still think my best bet is Alaska. LOL

My husband nagged me for forty years that we should have moved to Alaska in 1974 when we left Colorado. (The mountains there are very cool and pleasant, but the high elevation can be a problem). We spent 2 weeks there in 2018 and he hasn't complained since. There is a lot of bog land there and they say their mosquitoes are bigger than Minnesota.

So you're going to leave Texas. If I left Oklahoma because of the heat, I'd have to go without my kids, because they are both here. It has been bad. At least we have a cold front now and down into the upper 90's. That gecko is so cute. Did you turn him loose? You did a great job my friend. Have a wonderful evening. Shirley

I really won't leave TX. Our youngest son is here. He lives 3 hours away and has absolutely nobody but us. If he were married, I would honestly think about it. The gecko got away from me and is now wondering my kitchen. Hmmm. Thank you for the kind review.

I just love this, because I can relate to it. I never had a lizard in my purse, but I have sent messages to my kids and never received any responses. I always wondered how wants mom. You are a wonderful writer.

A fun one, Miss Barbsra! It's coool in Buffalo/Niagara Falls where we used to live, even in the summer. I had to wear a light coat or sweatshirt at night. I'd like a happy medium now. Sending you my best today as always,

I got a good chuckle out of this. I've never seen a real gecko and they are cute, but I'd freak out if I reached in my purse for keys and found something alive in there instead. I agree I wouldn't be thrilled with such heat, even without the humidity. We're finally getting rain after drought in Chattanooga.

Thank you for the kind review. This little critter is still roaming my kitchen area.

I hear you. My wife and daughter and me moved from Detroit Michigan in 1972 to Los Angeles California, mainly as a protest to yet another brutal Michigan Winter. I have lived here every since. My grass is brown as we have a restriction on water use, being in drought conditions for at least two years now. The weather is acting crazy all over the place right now. something has to be done and soon.

Lol. He just wanted some coolness too. I used to see plenty of these when I lived in Northern Australia. My sympathy for your heat - I understand, although we are probably more used to it. Have you had any offers yet?
Well written, fun and humorous plea!
