Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

This is a very cute and well written 5-7-5 poem you have penned for the Little Me contest. You used very good words and very cute picture of you and your older sister. Best wishes in the contest.
Suggestion only: You might want to use grass green. I think it would blend in better. Best wishes in the contest. love and blessings, Teri

Teri, I appreciate your words and suggestion about the green! You are so right about that being a better choice. I'll change it at once. I also appreciate your other comments. How very supportive, and the six star rating was a beautiful gift!!

Yes, unfortunately, even at 7 years old, life CAN be an ugly dance. And I love that line. Intricate and right on the money. Then in perfect syllables, you lay out your answer. Lovely piece of writing.

Thank you for taking the time to review in such a specific and helpful way, Michaela. There are many points in one's life the dance can take an unexpected twist. Thanks for noticing the theme.

The color background does fit the photo nicely. God can heal any problem that exists. I did enjoy reading this contest entry and thank you for sharing it with us. I want to wish you luck.

Thank you, Barbara. I liked the theme, but then got so caught up in including all the advice I wanted to give "Little Me", that I decided to trash it all and go for the overall theme.
Thanks for taking the time to review,

Since there is so little to review, I thought to investigate where this was and when it took place. Likely in the states in the early sixties. Your bike was a Champ, and it was likely near a mid-west city.

Tom, you are so very clever. You're right, short poems are often difficult to review. They are also hard to write, because you have to pack a lot of meaning in a few words - not my strong suite as I tend to run on and on (as you can see).
You're right about the States, but it was in Houston, Texas. There wasn't a lot to go on in the picture, but good observations, friend!

Faith in God does help us through life. I would be lost without my faith. The picture reminds me of my sister, we are two years apart and did almost everything together, she is my best friend. Last note, green is my favorite color too.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, Jade, and say your name matches your favorite color, lol.
My sister is still my best friend, though I accuse her of still being terribly bossy. She owns it, though. I'm glad you have a sister friend, too.

It can get pretty ugly! Nobody gets a smooth ride birth to death. Of that old saying "Dance with the one who brung you" is true...you've given the best advise!

God will take the lead!

    Amen!

Karenina, that was my father's favorite saying, and he often danced with me and my sister. My first "ugly" was when he left us. I wrote a poem long ago on this site about our relationship and said that my daddy was my first broken heart. It was one of the first contests I won, and the one iamkat (Kat) and I became friends over.
    Thanks for reviewing and commenting.

Some clues in this photo tell me this was taken in the very early 1960s. It has nothing to do with your excellent writing, but I love studying old images. Sometimes I get it right. Sometimes I don't, lol. This is a great contest entry. I wish you much success. Best, JohnC

Hi John C. Yes, it was taken around 1964. I was actually 5 in the photo, and my sister 7, but it was the closest I could come without having to do some serious hunting.
Thanks for your review, analysis of the photo, and kind words.
    Take care, John!

I liked your little poem as it says it all. If your aiming for a Senyru, then it should be written in lower case except God. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. Ulla:)))

-Thanks for sharing the photo and notes.
-You resemble each other and have
similar expressions on your faces.
-I don't see anything problem with the color;
it looks nice.
-Good syllable count and topic.
-It sounds like you had a lot on your
mind even at age 7, and have a good
concluding line that seems to be the
message to yourself.
-Good luck in the contest.

Thank you, Pam, for your review and comments.
As my sister and I grew up, and we got more about the same size, people thought we were twins. We are still very close, and often show up dressed alike, completely without planning, or will buy the same new purse, or get people the same gift.

Even as a small child, I thought deep thoughts and worried about everything, lol. Good for you for picking up on that.

    Thanks again for the review

You are very welcome for the review and comments. I was an only child, and I worried as a child, too. I don't think it is all that uncommon. I could see it in my son at a young age, too.
