What a little cutie you were. I think you're right, the colour does look good with the photo.
The words in your poem are what life is all about, there are ugly times in life, but with God beside us, we can always get through. Well done, and good luck in the contest! :)) Sandra

In my new house, my bedroom walls are the same color. At first, I did not care for the color of green, but since I decorated my room, I love them now. I went through much as a seven-year-old child. My grandmother died on her birthday, August 6, 1960, which was sixty-two years ago yesterday. My infant sister, four months old, died in the bed with me. I like your picture. You girls are so cute. We have to follow the Lord.

Thank you for reading and reviewing , Carolyn. I?m sorry you had such sadness so early in life. We had a small family, just two girls and my parents. I was such an innocent child, but rough times were ahead. Without God, I don?t know where I would be now.

I enjoyed this 5-7-5 verse about coping with adversity.
This is a creative entry for the contest.
The photo adds authenticity and connects the reader to your carefully chosen words.
The overall presentation and color story compliment the sentiment left.
I appreciate the author notes, as I enjoy knowing the thought process behind what the
poet/ poetess has penned.
Good luck in the contest!

KL, I appreciate your thoughts and words of encouragement. I tend to write long pieces, but thought less was more in this case.

Oh, such a cute little girl! I liked the poem very much because it was concise, yet meaningful, offering some excellent advice. The only thing I did not like was that it was too short. I want to know much more about that little girl. But maybe you could write another biographical poem soon, with more details. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. MM

Thank you, MissMerri! I usually write long everything, hehe, but when starting this poem, I was overwhelmed with information. I decided to try something new and just pack up all the thoughts into a few words that could speak for it all.
    Again, much thanks!

Everything about this entry is sweet. The message which is about human feelings is a Senryu. It is a clear and well-stated message. The font size is easily readable. The photo fits perfectly. You have a good entry for this contest. Well-done.

Thank you, Sandra, for your thoughts on the short poem, and for confirming that it is a Senryu. I?m trying to expand and explore poetic types, and hope to pull them off amongst those of you more seasoned. My usual genre is prose, but some thoughts are best presented in poetry.

    Again, much thanks

The picture is awesome. The color scheme works well.
You did a great job, Mystery Author, with your contest
entry. Your words are well thought out, the syllable count
a correct per line, and your give readers much to think about
in a good way. I like the use of the words dance/step and esp
what you paired with step. Yes, God watches those who believe.
Thanks for sharing ad best wishes in the contest, Jan

Thank you for reviewing, Jan, and for reviewing with your usual attention to detail. Especially for developing poets, such things are priceless. I?m glad you noticed the dance/step element. It was intentional. As I experiment with poetic forms, I am forced to face giving meaning in new ways. Few words mean to load them with meaning.

such a happy senryu! The second line kind of surprised me with it's hint of a darker presence in the "ugly dance" that life can be. I hope that, as a 7-year-old life was not already ugly. But with an older sister and the happiness of bicycle riding, and keeping step with God, you can conquer the world! Good luck with the contest.

Jay

Jay, thank you for reading and reviewing. Life was not ugly back then, for sure, but, like most lives, it had its twists and turns. My sister is still my best friend, though the parents, and bicycle are now gone.

    Take care.
