Hello Roy,
First, thank you for starting this book for Gert. She was eternally positive, fun, and encouraging to others. She also had a very deep, strong faith and would love your dedicating this to her memory and to her husband Stan.
Your poem would be especially appealing to Gert, not only in theme, but with its excellent meter and exact rhymes that read so easily.
"Don't fear death's ghostly shadow, if Jesus rules your day,
for time is merely chaff when... God's breath has cleared the way."
Best wishes to you and yours.

I think it's a beautifully crafted poem that articulates the transformation we go through in death. The long, languid lines soften the tone, and the echoing rhyme effects are quite dramatic punctuations. I loved the images of flickering candlelight, twilight glimpsed through the curtains, rain through the sunshine, whispers of immortality that speak of a peaceful transition from this life to the next. Nicely done. I didn't know Gert Sherwood had passed. She was a long time member and she reviewed lots of my pieces over the years, and vice a versa. I will miss her. I gentle soul. estory

Your poem has your usual spiritual message. You are very consistent expressing your faith. God is omnipresent and accesable at all times. I love the presentation.

Fantastic poem for the book of tribute for our dear Gert. I know exactly where she is, with our Lord and Savior. We are blessed to have known her.
I appreciate the changed format so I could add my chapter. :))
Sending you my best today as always, comfort and peace in your loss which is mine too.

That is a really good job of describing what comes at the end of our mortal lives. The second line is outstanding. I had to read it a couple of times to get the full meaning.

This is beautifully worded. I like the imagery of the fading flames of summer and how they are quenched by winter's rain. Gert would have agreed with the thoughts you express in the last stanza. "Weep not with worldly sorrow. Don't fear death's ghostly shadow, if Jesus rules your day." An excellent thought. This is a lovely tribute. judi

I like the spiritual feeling of this poem. It reminds us Christ is always there to help us when it is needed. Is the artwork supposed to a metaphor for Heaven, a palace in the sky?
Keep writing and stay healthy
Are you talking about Gert Sherwood?
