It sounds like you had many, many happy years with Zoe and many friends and celebrations of life.

Poignant and emotionally written. A lovely read to end my evening. And I love the vignette format.

There are some brilliant memories in here, of a life well lived and friends well known and of course a rock solid partnership in the centre. I like that you cover humourous and serious moments, but all with a steady storytelling hand and huge amounts of affection.

It amazes me that a subject so simple can come alive in the way you describe. I am so sorry about Zoe. You keep her memory so honorably. She was a remarkable person by the way you talked about her. This was poignant and funny at the same time. Nicely written, but when do you ever write bad? I loved it.

This work has reached the exceptional level

I like your description of how Zoe prepares for a dinner: Paragraph five, especially "funny-looking knives." What are they for anyway?

Very democratic way of saying "drunk," "over-served." Cute.

What sound advice given to not only the younger doctor but for all of us. I'm glad you included that paragraph, even though I am well past my time, it is still sage advice.

OK, after nineteen, what happened? Is this a true glimpse into your life Terry?

Perfect presentation. Not a single hiccup to be found. The story was very engaging, and the characters well formed. Sounds like it needs a sequel.

Gary, thank you for the six stars!!!. What happened after 19. On November 1, 2018, died of a heart attack, just like every member of her family and like she always said she would. Terry.

Hi Terry,
When it comes right down to it, memories are the only important thing we all collect and stored away to be reused, rehashed and saviour.

Your a great conveyor of a story, so it a great read. I guess for me what stands out though is the last sentence.

It would be nineteen more anniversaries until the dinner parties, the questions, and the speakers stopped.

That hit home Terry... and from all the festivity, gatherings, great food and beverage. Banter, questions, anecdotes, fishing trips, little laughs and fun shared, the realisation that this part of your life stopped there with Zoe... yeah, it saddened me and I felt the end just as you described it. A sudden ending.

I enjoy reading your work Terry. You deliver each time.

With our thoughts we create...
indelible memories.

Kind regards,
James.

Terrific write!!

Your stories always make me smile, and this is no exception.

Between your phraseology and descriptive language that you use,
I find myself
" falling into,"
the story.
That is a sign of a great writer.

I especially love your recollection of the fishing trip, the poor wives!! :)

As always, thanks for sharing.

I was never into dinner parties. I liked the small intimate kind. It sounds like you had some lively dinner conversation. You did a great job. Enjoy your afternoon. Shirley

Zoe sounds like she traveled extensively and learned great etiquette. When it came to elegance, she didn't cut corners. Everything sounded fancy, like a coat and tie restaurant. She was given out once she had finished cooking everything from scratch. There is no doubt that she would make a mess. Despite the mess, she cooked delicious food. Zoe is an amazing woman, and I enjoyed reading about her. It was a pleasure to read your post.

Carolyn, thank you for reading and your kind words. The main thing about her cooking was she enjoyed it. Terry.

You have some wonderful memories of your years together with Zoe, she sounds a fun lady and you obviously loved her a lot. Your dinner parties sound legendary. I'll remember that question and see what answers I get!! I think Zoe and Jaynne regretted coming fishing with you!! Lol. I wouldn't have gone, I can't stand the smell of raw fish. I have to send my husband to buy it and then do the necessaries right up to serving it up on the plate ready to eat! I enjoyed reading this, Terry. Well done. :)) Sandra xx

I enjoy 'clicking' on your thumbnail pictures on the site home page which opens the door to short stories from your life. I admire your openness and willingness to share. Based on your descriptions, I can easily visualize Zoe's kitchen, the dinner parties, your fishing trip and anniversary dinners. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your very kind review. I think writers are supposed to write what they know. I think that is why most of my stuff is nonfiction. I am also exploring fiction, and I think that is what writers guess. Thanks, Terry.
