There's a lot of great wisdom in this story, and you've always managed to make me hungry, craving fish. LOL. It's been a busy week, but I'm finally getting around to catching up on some reading and I'm glad I didn't miss this one. Thanks for sharing.

I like the easy way you relay conversations and events that happened in a myriad of situations and venues throughout your story. The way you silently praise your wife for her cuilnary accomplishments, but also identify that there is a lot of "clean-up" work required is very relatable.

You identify a life filled with memories, it sounds like most are positive. - It was a good read.

I've got to hand it to Zoe. She sure knows how to throw a great dinner party! With cloth napkins and table cloths, the dinner's must have felt very special! Each person spoke and answered your fun question and there were good times for all!
As far as the mess is concerned that's what husbands are good for. I never threw any fancy dining parties but I still get where you are coming from. Funny and relatable this was enjoyable to read.
Thanks for sharing your dining habits with us!
I loved the side notes.
Jesse

Wow, Terry. You've grown by leaps and bounds as an artist since the first few things I've read by you. Today's was a feast of entertainment and it all seemed to build to the last line ... and that line is a masterpiece of summation and nostalgia with just a tincture of melancholy.

I must give this my last six, Terry!

Jay

That's the one thing about dinner parties, the cleaning up afterward, fortunately we had lot's of helpful friends, who were kind enough to know how things do at these.functions. We had lots of good friends who were repeated invitees, beautifully written Terry, as always, somehow I don't think we were as sophisticated as you and Zoe, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Roy, I don't think we were sophisticated. She grew up in a very poor home, and from then on, she wanted to put her best foot forward as much as possible, but it was all downhome stuff. Thank you for reading. Terry.

I'd love to've on your boat. My west coast experience, everybody tangled with the high seas. We got vouchers for a return, but plans didn't allow. From Biloxi, driving down from Arkansas for the one day of fishing, the seas were high. The capt promised nothing, but that was our day. - zip fish.
I stuck to trout on the White River.
Nice writing. Thanks for the memories.

Was this a contest entry? A chapter to a book? And what you wrote is true?
Did eternal sleep come to be the reason why the dinner parties, etc., came to rest? You are interesting.

Tom, thanks for reading, no contest, it is true. Zoe died from a heart attack in 2018. Terry

I can only hope that I'm called home before my bride. It was tough enough losing my dog. There is a good chance since she is a decade younger. It had to be difficult.

That was a fun read, Terry. It sounds like Zoe wouldn't have had it any other way than to have fine food on the table. You never did say who did the cleaning up. I can only guess. Great Job! Loved it. Best, JohnC.

What an interesting life you have lived. One of the things I find most interesting about your write is the thought that even though I am not now nor have I ever been a professional anything. I am capable of living an interesting life composed of everyday things and events. I am capable of hosting dinner parties, not nearly as extravagant as yours, but interesting nonetheless. I love the idea of asking thought provoking questions that get people thinking and speaking before others, thereby exposing something about them that might have gone unnoticed.

Nomi, our dinner parties may sound sort of high flutin, but they were down to earth folks and times. Do try that question thing. Sometimes not everybody gets to talk. Thanks for reading. Terry.

Please know that I was not accusing you of anything, you are one of the most down to earth people I have met here. There is nothing wrong with doing some things that are commonly done by the wealthy..

These stories were funny. Thank you for sharing them with us. I really enjoyed reading.

Carl and I knew from experience that it was not good to be over-served the previous evening. (you can omit 'that')

Robert recalled a meeting with one of his long-time (In the paragraph starting this way, both of the 'presidents' should have a lower case 'p' because of the 'the')
