I remember Gert & Stan. That was a lovely poem to commemorate her. You are a nice friend. And you like Marcel Proust quotes. Nicely penned poem. Excellent work

Peace be upon you

Have a nice week :)

Thanks for the review. I appreciate your comments about Gert and Stan, and am glad you liked my tribute to her. Actually, I had not heard of him but found the quote on Brainy Quotes. It inspired the poem. I am glad you liked it, and have a great week, too!

A beautiful poem and aptly illustrated in azaleas! Azaleas are ever-constant and bloom in such beautiful colors, just like Gert. I am missing her so much! Thank you for your lovely contribution to the book.

Sending you my best today as always,
Sal XOs

Sorry, I'm all out of sixes. This is a beautiful tribute to our Fanstory colleague. And it says as much about the writer as it does about Gert. True Friendship really is a treasure and treasures ensure the warmth of that friendship will forever remain. I extend my sympathy and prayers.

Thanks for the review, Bob. No problem about a six; it is what you say that counts and that you cared enough to read it.

I appreciate you comments about the tribute and our FS colleague, true friendship "is a treasure". Thank you for caring about Gert. I don't know if you followed any of her writing or not. She was on the site for a long time.

Pam,
Your exceptional poem warmed my heart. One fantastic line that stands out: 'when life will call and want to set us free.' You deftly call our passing Life, because this life is temporary, and only begins at death.
Great work
Good luck with this one, Pam.
Blessings,
Cindy

The rondeau form lends itself to deeply epressive and moving messages like the one you hve penned for Gert. You have used a lovely blend of literal and figurative language.

What a lovely tribute for Gert! The author words are lovely, kind, have
a beautiful message, are descriptive and creative. I love the last stanza
a reminder to be grateful for the charming gardeners who make our souls
blossom! The artwork is awesome! May, Gert, Rest in Peace!

This is the second tribute to Gert I have had the pleasure to read. I'm afraid I am too new to FS to have known or read Gert. The words written about her tell me I am the one who loses on that level.

Nicely worded and I like the different format, the rondeau. I don't think I have read it before.

Good job.

Thanks for the review, Gary. I appreciate your comments about reading tributes to Gert. I remember being new, and not knowing about a person that was written about, either. I am glad you liked the wording and format.

This seems to be a lovely tribute to a friend. It is well written. I will certainly continue to reading the book. And I love azaleas. Evi

Thank you for the exceptional rating and review, Evi. I appreciate your comments about the tribute, continuing to read the book, and azaleas. Gert Sherwood joined FS in 2008, and she was a lovely lady who loved living in Vermont with her wonderful husband Stan. She wrote many different kinds of poems and often had fun with them, but she could also be serious. She passed away Sat. at age 86.

I liked reading your poem. That lovely picture sets it off perfectly. Is this a tribute to Stan's wife who has passed? That was the impression I received. You did a great job. Shirley

A nicely rendered tribute to love in that time honored pastoral romantic style and sensibility. The images of flowers, that classic image of romantic love, really permeated your poem and the gentle touch to the tone and rhyme scheme made for a peaceful contemplation of aging love. Is this a tribute to Gert? estory

Thanks for the review, estory. Yes it is a tribute to Gert; she passed away on Sat. Roy Owen created a book for her. I appreciate all of your comments about the poem, like romantic love and a gentle touch.
