This is a lovely tribute. I also am saddened. Gert & I shared Vermont. We were born in the same old hospital which is now part nursing home. The other part houses restless spirits...creepy. She lived a town up from me. She will be well remembered. Have you seen any Obits for her?

This is a beautiful poem dedicated to Gert. She was always so straight forward with her assessments, both honest and encouraging. The thought of a rose, with its delicate beauty and memorable thorns, is a nice comparison.

This is a beautiful poem, a lovely tribute to Gert and her love for Stan. Prayers of peace and comfort for all who mourn her passing. I love the metaphor of the rose -- complete with thorns, yet unnoticed. Blessings.

Wow, thank you so much for this honor and blessing you are to me, Carol! I extend the same comfort to you as you knew her and read her fine works of poetry. She was very special and is keenly missed by so many. I penned this in tears. Sending you my best today as always,
Sal XOs!

A wonderful tribute to Gert and this couples undying love. I thought the description of the thorns and how you handled that metaphor was brilliant. Well done.

I knew she was sick...but when she came back I was praying she was better...

Hi Sally,
A nice presentation in remembrance of Gert. I've noticed that rose blooms only pop if the bush has had lots of water. Otherwise, there's just leaves and thorns. No beauty.
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,

This is a beautiful free verse in remembrance of your friend and fellow writer, Gert Sherwood. I love the use of the rose in your poem, and your end line reminds us she will always remain a rose in the heart of her Stan. Beautifully presented Sally. Cheers

You can even say good things about the thorns on a rose stem. It is simply THE flower. Same as Neil Diamond is THE classic mix of rock and mood singer.
I am gathering, after reviewing several posts from several different authors here on FS, that I missed something truly great in not being able to read Gert. My loss.
Very nice tribute to a dear friend.
FYI: Forever in Blue Jeans is listed as the #2 best song by Neil, the #1 listed is Sweet Caroline; or so go the polls and tp ten lists.
Your recordings bring back nostalgic memories of a better time.

Thank you so much for the excellent review and kind compliments. I'm glad you enjoyed it all. Gert was very special and loved my Jukebox Hits countdown and crime fiction. I wrote her a birthday poem last year and featured Neil Diamond. Forever in Blue Jeans is one of my favorites.
Sending you my best today as always,
Sal :))

Yes, Gert has always been a sweetheart over the years. I would get a message after reading of her posts asking if there was anything of mine that I would like for her to read. Thanks for sharing.
