How cool! I think more of these poems should be shared more often. As writers, I think most of the time we feel like we're shouting in the darkness (don't you?) To know that we touch someone else and that there's someone who GETS what we're saying is amazing. I think this is an awesome tribute to some wonderful folks. Thanks!

Y'know Robyn since Covid I have had to be so careful and now more than ever as I am having my second leg reconstructed, and a new knee to boot to boot on Sept. 12th . My Lupus had distorted and destroyed my joints, and the bones. I haven't walked in five years and am so looking forward to finally having it over. My other one that was done in July & doesn't even look like the same leg and they have hope that if I keep doing the hard work that I have been, I will be on my own by Christmas. The reason I even am telling you this is because I feel like FS saved my life. I am so loving being here with all of you, the greatest loving second family in the world. If my husband would offer me a trip to Hawaii, it wouldn't mean more. (of course I wouldn't turn it down) But I don't have to fear covid, don't have to leave the house to go to my favorite place. Sorry to go on and on, but I learned the hard way after having an argument with my little brother once and not making up before he was killed in a car accident that you tell people how you feel or it may be too late. So with all that said my dear, I will keep doing this contest until there is nobody else to tell..... There is a reason they call me the chatty one here. Thanks my beautiful friend for listening to my excitement and for checking out some of my poems.

In the other reply, you compare me to Karenina, though. Wow - that's some pretty high standards. I wish! She is a stellar writer and a precious human. It's hard for me to believe that we were here together for SO LONG and didn't really know each other. Crazeeee. But now we do so all is good with the world. *smile*
I heard you've been walking a bit already with your walker -- that's AWESOME! I'll be praying that the other surgeries and therapies go well. Good luck to you, sweet one!

Yes that is true Bill. When I made my list out which of course and you and so many others that I adore, I looked at it and went whoa this will have to be done at least 3 more times. Oh Jen, you are so sweet and I love your beautiful acrostic poem. I have only been the recipient of a couple poems in my life and I will copy and paste it and put it with them. And yes, this contest was fun and my intentions of bringing joy to many was certainly accomplished. I will be doing another one in about a week and hope you will join in the fun. It was more of a group effort where all were winners. Thanks again for the lovely review, comments and poem.

This shows something about FanStory that we don't always recognize, or talk about... we get to know people through their writing in ways we might not ever do on any other site. The way people write and what they write about does tell us so much, and we can become great friends even though we never meet face to face. After 13 years on the site, I have made some life-long friends that are actually like family to me... something I never expected to happen. It is one of the unexpected blessings of FanStory. Thank you so much for sponsoring this fun contest, and of course we must have another, so we can include a few more of those we hated to leave out. This was a brilliant idea! MM

Thank you for all your kind and lovely comments Merri. You are so sweet and I feel the same about you and so many others. I do love how it feels more like a team effort than a competition and I have never seen the people so excited before so I was thinking once a week for maybe at lest 2-3 more times. I made my list of all of you who I love so much and thought, oh yes we are doing more. I had someone guess that they were one of mine and I felt so bad, but maybe next time. It just goes to show that we all need that little extra recognition sometimes. I have only been here a yr but only observed for a while and I just adored so many from the start. I am so hooked and it is my happy place, so God knew what he was doing when he brought us all together. Well I thank you again for your lovely review and I will be in touch as soon as the contest is over.

Nomi, you are so thoughtful and sweet too! I appreciate the very warm and thoughtful review & words as I wasn't feeling that this was my best work, but my heart was truly into it for the people that it's about. When I started this contest I wasn't sure how it would go, but everyone has been guessing and excited for the big reveal. It's in voting right now, but we will reveal as soon as it's done. It's so meaningful to see all the joy it is bringing. I believe everyone is a winner; writers, recipients and even reviewers.
