Pretty soon it will be apple-picking time here in New England. I do look forward to autumn when the air is filled with the scent of apples, cinnamon, cider and pies! The leaves usually turn into such glorious shades. But - with the drought this year, I fear the colors may not be that vibrant. Hopefully, the apples will still taste good! I enjoyed your short poem of autumn's appeal.

Simple, delicate, yet such a panoramic and full image. Autumn has always been one of my favorite seasons which is kind of funny to say because there are only 4 seasons so I guess it's my favorite, but this poem, restricted to 20 syllables, yet it doesn't feel forced at all. Thanks for sharing. All the best and so much love.

Wow, yes, I can almost smell the apples, and see the leaves falling, one by one. That's a lovely image and presentation, and also words. Beautifully done.

You nailed it with the twenty syllables and said everything that needed to be said about Autumn. I spent 26 years in Connecticut and I so miss picking apples and baking those pies while the leaves drop from the trees (for us to rake!).
Good luck with this contest:-)

I see that there is an energy flow moving through this poem.
Everything works well.
I can actually picture the aroma's spiralling like falling leaves.
Sparkling in your poem: the images you create, the inevitability of autumn.
Looking forward to apple picking and autumn flavours.
Nice work. Best of luck on your entry.

I loved your imagery. The tell tale falling leaf. It always starts with one, doesn't it? The apple tree and I'm sure there is that special autumn sky. This was very evocative and left me wanting to sip hot apple cider and sit around the fire. You used several senses in this. The sight, the smell, and the unspoken crunch of the dried leaf. Well done. Bring on the gentle winds of autumn.

Well said with only 20 syllables. You have captured the feel of fall
for me with the dry leaf falling and the alluring autumn aromas swirling
in the air. Earlier, I was thinking how ready I am for fall. The summer
has been the hottest I can remember here in Calif. Good luck in the
contest.

I love the repetitions of sounds in here - not just the a-based alliteration, but assurance too, giving this a tight pace and aiding the transition through seasons. I very much enjoyed.
