I think this was genius, Gypsy. The overall presentation was splendid, but the creative wording linking the two unknowns (the poet and the soldier) was even better.

Hi Gypsy, congratulations on your 2500 milestone post. I like that the poet remains anonymous. His written word speaks, but he remains silent, humble, giving total respect to the Unknown Soldier. Well done. Perfect photo choice. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

I have visited the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier." It's heart rending. To think that not only did those who are buried there give their lives for us, but we don't even know who they are and can't honor them appropriately. I like the connection "anonymous vs unknown" Seems to fit perfectly.
Really nice one Gypsy.

I like the topic of this senryu and the poem. 6/5/6. Most excellent picture presentation as well. A tribute to all those who have fallen in time that will always remain nameless, as well as those who are named. Thank you for remembering with a poem. Reminds of "By light from the fire" for an unknown soldier written by Lauren Clifford, of one such unknown soldier who died in the Battle of Ridgefield, 1777.
"By the light from the fire atop candles' wicks,
He wrote to his family, his name he affixed
To letters describing the battles he fraught,
And dreams, aspirations, and glories he sought.
A husband, an uncle, a brother, a son -
He might have been all of these things, or just one..........continues..
Good job
2500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow - you wild woman! lol

Gypsy,
Your tribute to this Unknown Soldier memorial/monument is noteworthy. I have been at Arlington three times in my lifetime. All were memorable experiences. You tell an important story in your verse. These anonymous soldiers will not be forgotten.
Congrats too on your 2500 milestone post!

Congratulations on your milestone post! I loved your poem. I was moved that the poet and soldier were both unknown in the end. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes to you once again.

I truly loved the picture, Gypsy. Your words seemed to capture the essence of the severity of the poem. This was indeed a great poem and a wonderful tribute to the man who lay beneath those stones. Blessed be n hugs!

Only the very best get to guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It's a great honor so the poet also chooses to remain anonymous to honor the unknown fallen soldier who gave his life.
Congrats on your 2500th post!!
