It never happens until we're gone. What a short end of the stick kind of deal. Yeah, after the "bad news" what's left to say?
I just read a Microsoft Edge article that claims we DO know if we are dead, we just can't do anything about it. It says that in over half the cases studied, the brain remained active for up to ten minutes. I don't know if that's what I want.
More truth than we would like to admit in your short little verse.

This is true it is a lot easier to be famous dead than alive. They know there won't be any more so suddenly you have a rarity value, or rather, your work does.

I have been told that by well-meaning friends before you will be a famous poet when you pass away. Just like Emily Dickinson and so many more they never get to even the score until they are long gone but not forgotten.
So, we have this to look forward to when we are gone we will look down (or up) and watch as the people read our works in awe.
You had me going with such a crazy prompt but I get it and love the way you end this with its figures!
