Let me apologize for not giving better individual feedback the first time.
I liked your poem because you rhymed it with a 1-2, 3-4; 1-2, 3-4 rhyme pattern. That is classic. It takes a lot of thought to do.

Best lines:
"Now this would be a nice surprise
If running behind was exercise"....FUNNY!

Thomas, I see that you are new on this site . There are two things that you should know my friend and the first is that we never review our own work, but second is that just because you feel that one is better than the rest, doesn't mean that the rest of them are only worthy of a four star review. There are many awesome poets on this site who depend on a fair review. There are lots of new contests everyday, and the voting booth is there to pick our favorites, but these long time pro writers know how to give a respectful and fair review to the others regardless how they voted. This is why it is probably be best to watch learn and listen for a while before you start judging others with such a flimsy, arrogant approach. You will never gain the respect of your peers that way and it may come back to bite you.

Thank you Thomas for your very mature apology and respectful way you answered back to all who you had judged as a whole.
Many of us here have been successful authors for years or young people trying to learn the ropes.
I welcome you to FS and I hope we become good friends.

Debi, This is a very cute and well written poem you have penned for the Make Me Laugh writing prompt. You used very good descriptive words and very nice imagery from the art work you chose. Best wishes in the contest. love and blessings, Teri

Thanks so much Teri for the very kind review and comments for my part real life, and part fiction Christmas. But my husband attempts to wrap his gift for me and he doesn't have the knack for it so I would rather he snoozes. However, lol, he does get the bill! Real life just isn't that humorous, Y'know?
My kids have been coming the last couple years to help me, but this is my load of gifts from last Christmas and I do enjoy doing what I can on my own!
    Thanks again my friend!

You did a great job, Debi, with your fun contest entry. You
set up the 'make me laugh' theme well. The image is supportive
of your well thought out words. The font and color scheme work
well--love the fancy font. Your rhymes add to the smooth flow.
Readers are drawn into your poem since many will identify with
its issue. However, many of those will receive a big bill in January,
whereas you gave yours to hubby. All in all, your poem reminds me
that you and hubby have a great relationship, and both know how
will end.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Jan, you are always so very sweet. I saw that there was one last place in this contest at midnight and took it, not looking to see that the deadline was in 3 hours until after I reserved it. So even tho this was only part true, as real life just isn't that funny. (f you saw my husband's wrapping, I really rather he just keep snoozing) it was true tho that he did get the bill! Lol
Thank you my dear friend for your very kind review and comments!

I love it, Debi. You have written a great poem expressing what you face at Christmas time. It did make me laugh. I could just picture you signing all those gifts for others, "from Mom and Dad," knowing that you had done all the work. I like your closing line, "he gets the bill."

This is fantastic! I found this to be amusing and so true to my own situation. I sometimes want to hit my guy on the top of his head! Christmas is worth it though, don't you agree? Best of luck in the contest. :)

I really do agree that Christmas is so worth it and my poem is not really all true because if you saw my husband's wrapping you'd probably see that I would rather he just keep snoozing. Lol!
Thank you so much for the very kind review and comments my dear friend.

Thank you for sharing this writing prompt entry with us. I completely understand. I take care of all the family's gifts. My problem, I buy gifts throughout the year. When I see something that I think will be perfect for a certain person, then I put it away and forget all about it. A few years later, I find it.

Haha Barb, I do the same or else I just can't wait and give it to them early.
Glen says I am like a little kid who gets joy out of everything and especially giving. However real life isn't always funny, so it has to be exaggerated,
If you saw my husband's wrapping, you'd see that actually I'd rather he keep snoozing. Lol! However he does get the bill! Thanks for the great review and comments my dear friend!

Ha! This gave me a huge chuckle. I'm not saying this because I'm male, but your husband has the right idea. as you say, his dreams will soon turn to nightmares when he gets the bill! Hahaha! I loved this Debi! I hope you are doing better, my friend.

If your husband was like mine, he did not like to go shopping for many gifts. He would go into the store to buy me a present.

Everyone else was left to me. But, we still love them. And I think it was for the best, he did not see how much things cost. And yes, he got the bill as always. Thank you for sharing. I hope you are doing well.

Thanks so much Carolyn. Glen is the same, as he only has to buy my gift and wrap it. However If you saw my husband's wrapping, you'd see that actually I'd rather he keep snoozing. I guess real life isn't always funny tho, so writing some times has to be exaggerated. But he does get the bill! Haha!
Thanks my dear friend for the very kind review and comments!

Debi,

You made me laugh, so you have succeeded. Christmas shopping can be very stressful and it isn't easy to find gifts for people who already have everything and just go buy whatever they want. You deserve a few elves to help you out.

Thanks Sue for such a lovely review and words about my poem. I haven't been inside a store in years, so although I do all online shopping, my kids give me ideas and links to follow for the grandkids. Since life just isn't always too funny, we have to exaggerate in our writing. Like If you saw my husband's wrapping, you'd see that actually I'd rather he keep snoozing. Haha! Thanks again my dear friend!

    Debi,

You are welcome. I haven't been able to shop in stores for decades either and have discovered that online shopping can be just as stressful. I miss being able to really see and touch what I am buying. Photos can show only so much.

Yes, this was funny. The last line said it all! I like a line at the end that is a "stunner." You made such gentle fun of your guy with love for him behind all the lines! I hope it does well in the contest.
