I don't write poetry, and seldom read it. It's not that I don't like it, but most, can be deciphered to suit every reader, giving it thousands of different meanings. But so far, your's is straightforward, hit the points on spot writing, and I'm enjoying every line. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for this comment. I try to write poetry that is relatable for all. Many poets write poetry for other poets. I appreciate you stopping by and reading my poems.

Congratulations on your 50th post, what a tremendous accomplishment!!!!!
Has anyone ever told you that your poetry is reminiscent of one, Maya Angelou?
Well, you should know that because it is, my friend.
Your phraseology is exquisite, word painting a canvas of honesty and humility.
I love your use of alliterations, ( P's and G's ), peppered throughout.
I also loved the repeated phrases," I had answers", "I had problems","I was efficient."
This metre gives a smooth rhythm, like jazz playing in a smokey bar.
If their were seven stars I would have given them to you.
Well done!!!

Thank you for your wonderful and supportive comments. i have been compared to Maya and Nikki G.. Jazz is my favorite music, so I like that comparison too. Thanks, for your generosity in comments and rating.
-
I am also a fan of Nikki's as well as Iyanla Vanzant.
I just purchased your book, " Literal Life Lessons," Can't wait to read it.
-
Wow! I'm excited to hear what you think of my book. Which cover did you get? I had two covers. I'm extra. LOL There is also an audiobook with me reading my poems. Many of the poem I have posted on this site comes from my debut book.
-
I purchased the one with the pink flower on a black background.
Nothin' wrong with bein' extra :))
-
I agree. I hope you enjoy it. That was my favorite cover. The photos in the two books are different except those taken by my Army Sgt. in Dallas and one by me.

Hi Sandra,
firstly, congratulations on reaching this milestone on site. I'm pretty sure there is a greater number of works and art that has given way to this journey.
What an appropriate title and metaphorical poem for such a 'milestone.'
I love a deep-diving look and self assessment into one's soul development and journey. Just as I, I know all the time of continuous rolling in the currents of life have smoothed the jagged edges to a polished finish where your mind shines in composition.
Yes, most definitely there are times when a rock can become a pebble, just as that pebble can gain the momentum of becoming a rock to its existence.
With our thoughts we create...
undercurrents.
Kind regards,
James.

Congratulations on reaching that milestone. I have 148 to go before I reach mine, sigh. You did a great job with this. The reader really sees the difficulties of trying to keep things together. Sometimes people can put a front, and we really don't know what's going on with them. You do an excellent job with the rock analogy--"stony self-control, jagged edges." great concluding thought that a rock can and will become a pebble. Perseverance is the key. judi

Congratulations on your milestone 50 post! A virtual six. An honest self-examination of surviving with a rock-hard will but finding that life can not only smooth the rock into roundness but also reduce rock to a pebble. I love the last stanza:
I must dig deep.
The myth is usurped
By crystal, teared reality.
There are times
A ROCK
can and will become a pebble.
I notice hope still embedded in this realization. I have no doubt you will dig deep and confront this realization of your limitations.

Well done. Sounds a lot like aging and some wisdom as we go. Resolute often gets us to old age. Every one's goal I believe. We don't always have the answers when we get. Blessings. Barbara. xo

In this instance the loss of my only child would not be a blessing. Read in my portfolio "Back Awat from the Brink". It will explain what this poem is about better. Thanks for reviewing my poem.

So sorry. I knew about this tragity. I didn't realize it was about that. Forgive my ignorance.

It's okay. One cannot keep up with everyone's life on this site.
