a well done poem about faith and your journey to find face and redemption from the temptation offered by alcohol and drugs and finding God's grace in the end.

Faithful words here Jim and I enjoyed the yearn to belong and the hopelessness felt as many would identify with these words. I felt a sense of freedom in your words here, love Dolly x

God is amazing His wisdom and wherewithal late beyond our imagination, He knows things way beyond our abilities and perception, I've never believed in Isaiah 55:8, and I think that may be your reasoning too Jim, well done, blessings Roy

This is through and through a testament of faith and grace. We (many of us) may not have been adopted, but for one reason or another we felt out of place or unloved or in some way "apart" from those we call family.

I was one of those... Like you, I learned at an early age I was God's child.

Many times, I went the wrong way like a lost sheep, but God always guided me back to His flock.

Love the "return to sender" reference. It's my great hope!

Karenina

Karenina, you as a child of God have your face painted on the Golden Stairs so - when you go they will all know and see that you are coming home! Because you are richly blest. 🙏🙏🙏🎶🎶🎶🎶

I am well short of what I'd like to be ~ but hopefully, I still have time to grow!

Wow! Love your testimony in your poem, Jim! Appreciate the message that this is not our real home nor our birth families are necessarily our real family. Christ did pay everything in full so we can return Home. Virtual Six! Hope this poem does well in the contest!

'oft struggling with a hopeless longing (oft) no apostrophe needed

I like the overall sense of this work. However, I have a problem with the rhyming of pain and again; and of heavenly and heavily. I guess they are near rhymes, but for me they stopped the flow of the poem. I don't know if near rhymes are acceptable according to the rules. Even so, I believe this is an excellent effort.

This is a very powerful and heartfelt piece of writing. As someone who was adopted, I can fully relate--to the first stanza, especially.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem.

Take care,
Erika

Wow. You take a testimony to a new level. This was lovely. I love the postal reference. Return to sender postage fully paid. And fully paid, indeed. I know how it is to try and find that salvation in things. Be it alcohol, drugs, sex or even food. Tangible things that seem so much more real to us than a promise made over 2000 years ago. Faith is truly putting yourself out there. But so worth it. Your poem had an almost lyrical flow to it. Well done.

This spiritual poem, Return to Sender, finds a happier destination for the soul sent through the passage of great resistance, filled with snares, barbs, and traps. The final destination is now seen and anticipated. Neat.
