Wendy, this is so powerful. We see and hear and feel those things that bring joy into our lives, yet we often turn away from those things that are uncomfortable for us. I am guilty of this, and your words make me feel ashamed of my failings and selfishness.
I must try harder to value all people within our lonely, hurting humanity.
This is truly an exceptional poem.

I enjoyed this poem, Wendy, particularly the concept that learning makes us fully human. Many people shy away from questionng and learning, being satisfied with themseves, and not prepared to hear criticism. This saddens me, as there is always room for improvment. We all seem to have had trouble with the line spacing ever since the new fonts arrived. It is now several weeks since that happens and the problem persists. I would have thought the geeks could have ironed it out by now. It brings a new meaning to the phrase 'spaced out'. It's not your fault and I admire your solution to the problem but what we need is a proper solution so that one hit on the return key makes a single space not a double.

Thanks so much. Mine wasn't double spaced on my word document - it became double-spaced after I copied and pasted it, and no matter what I tried (even "delete format") it just kept reverting. Pam suggested "control, shift, V" for pasting (I normally just use "control V", so I'll try her suggestion and see how that goes.

This is nicely done. I love the creativity you show here. Not just in the poem - which is beautiful. And word selection - which is perfect. But I also enjoyed the presentation with colors and bold text making emphasis and making stanzas stand out. Great job - a beautiful poem.
