I liked your entry very much. Poor guy. Too bad he didn't have a flashlight. Sometimes, I guess ya just never know.
I wish you the best of luck in the contest.

Thank you for this exceptional review, it means a lot to me. You are right about the flashlight. :)

True love never to be realized. A truly sad picture you paint here. It's just as devastating to lose someone you have been with for years but to lose someone brand new and never get the chance to find out what it is all about, that is just too sad.
Nicely worded.

A well-written poem. You told your story with great rhyming. It held my attention. I would have been interested in what caused the bloody face and how did he die. It does make for a mystery and a good poem. One thing I would change is the last line, the fourth stanza, the word can't. I think it would read better "I looked back quick but "could not see."
Best wishes for winning the contest.

This is a beautiful poetic rendition of a tragic story with a bittersweet ending.
I like the foreshadowing of these lines:
I saw the blood drip down his face,
I flew into his cold embrace
Well done.

"Final Bouquet" is a poem that asks questions, probably the most potent of starting points for a poem. As the poem continues, it becomes clear that the man in the poem has not left his lover by choice; some violent trauma has taken his life. The initial uncertainty about the evolving story creates another question: is this death a suicide? The reference to a location "along the cliff's edge" reveals that it probably is a suicide. There is finally another question implied within the poem; if "He loved me till the very end," why did he choose suicide and the pain this choice would bring to his lover?

I think it was a terrible accident. There was too much love there for it to be otherwise. Thanks for this great review.

This is a marvelous entry for this contest, kinda like a modern-day Romeo and Juliet except she lives to remember. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest.
