Hi Debi! I hear that! My grandchildren are 8 and 10,
and they've got a little bit of
sass, lol! My daughter and
son-in-law are doing well at
raising them, with some
frustration here and there.
My daughter is an only child,
my son-in-law has 2 sisters,
so he knows all too well
about sibling rivalry. It is
fascinating to watch your
own adult child as a grownup
raising her own children.
Very melodious writing here.
Many blessings to you. ~

Thank you so much Regina! And as always we are on the same page. Now I just have to laugh as mine are facing the same old normal issues we just did. I am just so thankful that I did a good enough job that they are here for us now when we need them. Hopefully only temporarily though! Thanks again my sweet friend!

This is truth wrapped up in humor. Your words illustrate the picture perfectly or is it vice versa? I'm in the same situation. We appreciate so much the love and loyalty of our grown son and daughter, as we've loved watching their families grow. Good job, Dear! I'm glad you did well in the contest!

Debi,

This is a delightful poem expressing the journey of children, and their parents, through the various stages of life, and how they learn to communicate -- for better or worse. I really enjoyed this one.

Life does come full circle with the end meeting the beginning. And the cycle of life will continue through generations. It's interesting to see all the variations of the same theme. Keeps us from getting bored!

I have noticed that myself, that I will write something and later on notice that others have the same topic. I guess as poets, we think alike. I can't thank you enough June, for your very kind review and comments. It is so appreciated my friend.

This is my second 'You chose' poem. I love the kiddy artwork you've chosen for your writing. I loved the message in the poem and the rhyming was not forced and great. Best wishes in the contest.

Well you chose well my friend because I did get second place. But am always happy to place in the top three. We can't win them all. However I thank you very much for your very kind review and comments.
As always, it is so appreciated!

"Pay for our raising."

That was my parents' and mother-in-law's famous saying. One of the

things my mother in law used to preach was,

"When they are little, they step on your toes, when they are grown, they

step on your heart."

Our kids will live and learn like we did. Thanks for sharing. I hope all is

well with you.

Thanks ever so much Carolyn! You and your parents were so right.
I wrote this in my notes but something my mom, who also was a teacher and a poet used to say, "your ideas will change as you grow up about the life you had, then you decide what's good to keep and then throw out the bad." Thank you for your lovely words my friend

Such a fun read! Great meter and rhyming schemes, and isn't the message so universal?! I am also of the age where I'm watching my kids parent, and it's interesting which of my techniques they deliberately steer clear of and which ones they use with their kids. Thanks for posting this delightful little piece, and I wish you good luck in the contest!

Thanks ever so much Laurie! You just reminded me of something my mom, who also was a teacher and a poet used to say, "your ideas will change as you grow up about the life you had, then you decide what's good to keep and then spit out the bad." Thank you for your lovely words my friend.

Well done on this poem, describing the different seasons in the life of a child and how they react. I like the way you have used the same rhyming theme throughout.

Thanks so much Anne. You are the first person that I heard from that realized or said anything about me using the last 2 lines in every stanza rhyming with peak, then all of the lines in the last stanza doing the same.
Thank you for that, as it really made my day. Also with the way we look at our roles, you just reminded me of something my mom, who also was a teacher and a poet used to say, "your ideas will change as you grow up about the life you had, then you decide what's good to keep and then throw out the bad." Thank you for your lovely words my friend.

Oh yes, this is all familiar. From babes in arms to cute toddlers then those terrible teen years. You've got a great rhythm and good rhyming through all your verses. I enjoyed this read and wish you luck in the contest..
Cheers
