You did a great job with this continuing saga, Gretchen.
I missed this chapter due to my internet being down for a day
and a half. Miranda can really pick them. I believe Dougie was
looking for an easy way out to leave the boy. She'll never see him
again. Her boss, Matt, is full of himself, too. I will read the other
chapters in order.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Hey, I like Miranda! I've known people like her and Rita. I like the plot as it's developing. Sorry I missed the first part. I'll have to circle back and get to it. It's been hectic around Squiresburgh.

I'm sure running a kingdom like Squiresburgh is quite demanding. I'll take what I can get from their ruler. Lol. If you can't go back and read the other parts, no worries. Good luck with the editing. And thanks for the great review.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable, believable story. Can't wait for the next chapter. Make sure you check if a NY other of my chapters are paying still. More coming No spags.

You sneaked in here that fact that three years have passed. I got lost when the narrator mentions a kid sleeping on the couch. As for Waylon--I think he knocked up one of Miranda's friends and now she's stuck caring for him. I like her clever come backs which make the dialogue fun to read.

Poor girl, she's got a work companion that doesn't A from T, and a flat buddy who's walking out, because he claims he's got another job, and worse, he's leaving a dependant behind, Matt calls to tell her to get back to the station, and then fires her. Things have gone berserk, beautifully written Gretchen, blessings Roy

Oh Wow! I felt her stress and the urgency to handle all the situations at once. Her life was falling apart in just less than an hour that morning and she can't stop it. This is very well done, Gretchen. I can't wait to see how she handles it! Nancy:)

This is not good. Now she has no guy, that's a good thing, and to job, that's a bad thing, and this guy's child to care for. He's never going to send for him. She's stuck with him. I like this story.

I look up to ser Dougie and suitcase go scooting past me and out the door.
(I look up to SEE Dougie???)

Oh, you cruel, cruel novelist, you!!! I am so INTO this book, and you just yank me back to my real life!!! How am I supposed to want to do anything else until I know how this gets resolved? My husband's going to be calling you. "Please, Gretchen! Please post the next chapter. Rachelle's become a lazy load and refuses to get off the couch 'because she's in Limbo' or something," he'll say.

So, in case you couldn't tell, I love this book!! You're so GOOD at writing!!!!!

Now im going to be on the couch and my husband will call you. "Don't fill her head with this stuff. She needs to go back to work." LOL. Thank you. Miranda says all the point blank stuff I don't. That's a fun character to write. I can tell you that.

Um, I'm sorry; were you imagining that was lost on ANYONE?! Lol!

This is an excellent part of your story. You paint the characters extremely well. I can see inefficiency, ineptitude and impatience amongst others so clearly. The other thing I found particularly effective was your use of speed to move the plot on (speed of travel, speed of movement such as packing, speed of speech). Very clever.

Thank you so much. She is a very fly by the seat of your pants type of character. Thank you for reading and reviewing.

inefficiency, ineptitude and impatience are not all in the same character to me. K

GW,

I enjoyed the second installment as much as the first. We are learning more about Miranda's character and her usually sane judgement of character. What magic does this Dougie practice? I was spellbound start to finish. The dialogue is very natural and the story was paced perfectly. Notes follow.

I look up to ser Dougie and suitcase go scooting past me and out the door.-- typo ==> I look up to see
